After three years of fun with Francesca my horizons are expanding, heading off out into the big wide world, and sadly it is time for Francesca to find a new family. Francesca is a 2005 LWB transit minibus with twin roof-racks, twin wheeled rear axles which i acquired in 2018 (via a previous owner) to transform from a mover-of-mini-people, to a finely-furnished, fully-featured, fabulous friend for far-away frolics. Mechanically she is a diesel transit with 73k on the clock, has a new clutch (2019), new injectors & feed pipe (2020), and comes with 8 months MOT (Aug 2022). In the cab not much has changed, she has a screen-mounted reversing camera display and Pioneer stereo, and the passenger seat rotates to double up as seating for the fantastic rear accommodation. For the accommodation i stripped out the interior, ran new wiring for the auxiliary batteries, reversing camera, external 240V hook-up, solar installation, domestic lighting, 12V charging points, submersible fresh water pump, and fridge installation, before completely insulating her and constructing the interior framework with timber and ply. Across the back is a full sized double bed (Ikea slatted-base) over a cavernous garage into which slides a self-supporting pull-out dining table. The bench comfortably sleeps a single & lifts to access the 180Ah leisure batteries (charged via the engine and 110W external solar panel), plus storage compartment. Next to the bed are cupboards for clothes and a pantry with further storage, including built-in wine rack, running the whole length of the ceiling. Over the cab he replaced the low-level headlining with an insulated, carpeted compartment big enough to store a medium-sized child. The kitchen comprises crockery / utensil storage, a 65L dometic 240/12V/gas fridge, gas bottle for the Dometic double burner / sink combination unit, twin removable 25L plastic water cans (waste/fresh). Completing the interior are two overhead LED strip lights, touch sensitive dimmable LED downlights. Soft furnishings were supplied by my (most excellent) Grandmother, and over the last few years they have successfully ventured as far as Southern Spain (Francesca and myself, not myself and my grandmother), and made memorable trips around the UK, from Cornwall, to Lake District.
