Volkswagen T3/T25 Westfalia Joker
1986 Volkswagen Westfalia Joker (pop top). Genuine European spec, left-hand-drive type 25 Westfalia (aka T3, T25, wedge, brick). First registered in Germany in July 1986, imported to the UK in 2007 by Eastfalia Ltd. Very well maintained and carefully modernised (receipts for well over £20k since 2019) with an extensive history file. It runs and drives beautifully and is ready for adventures and holidays alike.
The body and paintwork are in very good condition showing a few small chips and repairs here and there. Underneath is very clean and solid, frequently commented on as being one of the best around. The pop-top and front luggage rack are in great shape, no cracks or breakages (though it is scratched), with a Go Westy three-window canvas. Original tailgate mounted bike rack with three new Fiamma bike rails. Truck mirrors give excellent visibility. Chrome bumpers, gloss black powder-coated steel wheels complete the look.
Mechanically very well maintained and a joy to drive. The 1.9 TDI AHU motor pulls strongly and doesn’t fuss about hills. Starts on the button all year round, average fuel consumption is 36mpg. New starter motor, radiator, external oil cooler, fuel tank and lots more. Brakes rebuilt and upgraded. Gear linkage completely rebuilt and 025 Motorsport shifter installed. Suspension rebuilt with Bilstein B3 springs and B6 shocks all round. 16″ Mefro steel wheels with 225/70/16 Michelin Latitude Cross tyres. Ultimate Engineering electric power steering. One-key locks with remote central locking.
The original interior is in remarkable condition – all fixtures and fittings are in excellent original order, fully functional with a couple of marks to the woodwork from previous gadgets or accessories. Original curtains, carpets, headlinings and seat upholstery are in great shape, with few a signs of wear here and there.
Both front captain seats swivel. The original 3-way fridge works really well. Twin hob gas stove. Sink with button operated tap. Swing-out table with handmade top (original top also included). Marmoleum flooring. Removable plywood buddy seat made to house a Porta Potti. Huge amount of storage all over the van all in the original configuration.
25 litre fresh water tank and externally-mounted grey water waste tank. 15kg gas bottle. New Victron battery charger under the back seat which charges both vehicle and leisure batteries while on hookup. New Eberspächer Airtronic S2 D2L diesel night heater installed in 2021, with 7-day programmable timer which makes for super comfortable year-round camping. 12v and twin USB sockets front and back all wired to the leisure battery, as are all interior lights and stereo, so there’s no draw on the vehicle battery when camping.
It’s driven and used regularly. Included in the sale are the bike rack, thermal pop-top wrap, thermal window mats, child’s cab bunk, electric hook up cable. A great and practical camper with all the right bits in all the right places. Endless hours have been spent on finding solutions to modernise the function without compromising the charm of the classic design and feel.
Sleeps up to 5 – rock’n’roll bed below and fold-out roof bed in the pop-top both around 120x190cm, plus a kid’s bunk that fits over the cab area.
