1997 VW T4 SWB 1.9d - seats and sleeps four

This is a wonderful VW T4 1.9 TD SWB – totally ready for adventures.

Less than 117,000 on the clock, MOT until late April 2026.

First registered in 1997, she is shown as a motor caravan (campervan) on the V5 so benefits from cheaper insurance than standard van conversions. She sleeps four and all tyres have plenty of tread.

I have had her since April 2021. Trips to Wales, Suffolk and the midlands on many occasions.

Money has been spent mechanically as well as functionally. Most notably in May 2021, a new M1 crash tested pop top roof with elevating bed fitted by shadow customs in Poole.
Maintenance history

At the beginning of 2021 the chap I bought it from replaced the fuel filter, brake hoses, timing belt, head gasket set, cylinder head gasket and water pump.

Over the last four years she has had new front and rear pads and discs, serpentine and drive belt replacement, new rear suspension, new alternator, two oil filter and oil changes (most recent December 24), new glow plugs, oil pressure switch and sensor, full injection system clean, turbo actuator replacement, handbrake and bonnet release cables and many more small jobs. All done professionally at the garage.

The rear has a fully operational rock and roll bed with seat belts and newly installed solid MDF units that can be easily turned to house standard cooking and sink installation. Wiring for a leisure battery as well as LED ceiling lights are already in place and good to go.
