Ford Transit Custom
I am selling my 2013 Ford Transit Custom which I have converted to a Campervan during September and December 2021.
The van was purchased as a Crew Cab in September 2021 and has been fully converted to a 2-berth camper van including a double gas hob, sink, fully working electrics both 12v and 240v and a fridge freezer.
The van itself benefits from the following.
Front and Rear parking sensor
Heated front seats (there are 3 seats in the cab, however the middle seat is not heated)
Ford heated front windscreen
Air conditioning
Factory fitted radio including, Bluetooth, Aux and CD with some very good speakers
2 side windows in the rear compartment which open on both sides
Electric front windows
Automatic headlights
Anchor points for a roof rack (if you wanted to have one)
Additional extras added to the van are the following.
Rock and Roll bed professionally fitted and M1 tested with certificate included (this includes seatbelts for a further 2 passengers whilst driving)
6 spotlights connected to the main switchboard
Under cupboard lighting (colour changeable by remote)
Double gas hob with fitted gas tank
Sink with running cold water from a fitted 25 litre water tank which can be removed to top up
Under van drainage from the sink with a waste water collector
JKF40 Fridge & Freezer worth £400
Ample Storage under the front seats, in the cupboard and under the bed. (When the rear seats are pulled out into the bed position the floor doesn’t need to be clear as it has no front legs).
Fitted purpose built curtains in the rear side windows and a made to measure partition curtain between the front cab and rear living space
3 USB Connections for 12v charging
240v Hook up with 3 plug sockets for use when on a hook up at a camp site (including 25 meter hook up cable with adaptor to charge at home before you set off).
Full insulation and sound proofing with a fully carpeted interior.
Heavy duty flooring (used in school corridors) for easy clean and good grip with muddy/wet shoes.
Rear view mirror (camera) fitted to the rear with an internal driver cab display which looks just like that of which you would get in a car, full 1080p HD display including recording front and rear.
When purchased there was a small chip in the windscreen which has been fully replaced by AutoGlass.
This van along with all of the added extras above have been used on the occasions we have been camping and are fully functional without issue. Without the 204v hook up connected we have used the van for up to 4 days without losing power to the fridge and USB sockets making it ideal for festivals or remote sites where there is no 240v hook ups. It could last longer however we haven’t been away in it longer than that to test it. There is a fitted CTek unit in the van which means it will charge whilst you are driving, but when you are parked up using power from the leisure battery is does not drain any power from the main battery.
The van has just over 84,000 miles on the clock putting it just under the average of 10,000 miles a year, having done research before purchasing the van I am aware they can reach a staggering 250,000 miles if maintained correctly.
A Gold Service (the best the garage offered) was carried out in October 2021 on the van following its purchase where it had completed 81,021 miles at that time, since then it has completed around 3000 miles in a year and a full breakdown of the service can be provided.
An MOT was completed in April 2022 where it had 0 advisories, with that said the van has not failed a single MOT since its first in December 2016 and I welcome you to look that up yourself! It starts and runs beautifully, we have had no issues whatsoever with the van in the time we have had it.
The DVLA have been notified of all of the modifications on the van as per the correct process when converting a van to a camper however as the van does not look identifiable as a camper in traffic they have decided to leave it registered as a Light Goods Van. Evidence can be provided of this by way of the V5C dated 26 September 2022 and additional covering letter they have sent to me. There is still potential in the van for extras like an awning and pop top however not something I am looking to do myself. If these changes are made in the future you will need to notify the DVLA again.
I am selling the Van as it was a project I had wanted to do for a long time, we are now planning to move onto a bigger van next year after some well needed holidays abroad.
If you have any questions or would like to arrange a viewing of the van, please let me know.
