The van was a labour of love: a former commercial vehicle self-converted in 2023/24 in collaboration with a professional carpenter, an electrician, a gas fitter and plumber and with finishing touches by a van conversion pro.
The pale wood-clad interior and big, multiple windows are designed to give a light, airy, spacious feel to the cabin. A comfy, cosy u-shaped seating area around a custom-made dining/work wooden table converts in minutes into a sprawling super-king size sleeping area on a plush memory foam bed..
Six dimmable LED overhead ceiling lights keep the cabin bright or atmospheric demanding on how you’re feeling. Custom-made overhead wooden cupboards, areas under the seating and bespoke kitchen units provide lots of storage space.
Created to go off-grid, the van has two solar panels connected to a sophisticated smart leisure battery system with an inverter to switch quickly and easily to mains on a campsite. The battery charges as you drive too. A stylish and discreet Kildwick portable composting toilet means that you don’t have to make like a bear in the woods when you’re wild camping! Or stumble off to the toilet block in the middle of the night on camp sites.
The 90 litre freshwater tank and pump supply drinking and cooking water for the sink and hot water for the external shower while the underslung LPG tank provides months of gas to the built hob, grill and cooker. A small diesel heater run by a remote control panel makes the inside toasty-warm in minutes.
She drives like a dream so don’t be put off by the mileage. She has a brand-new clutch and the hydraulic steering rack, cam belt and fuel injectors were all replaced during the conversion. We have never had a single mechanical problem on our journeys.
And we’ve had lots of fabulous adventures in this wonderful van all over England and Scotland, from campsites to off-grid, wild camping. Now we have decided to spend a couple of years travelling overseas and so, with great regret, we have decided to sell her. That means we’re selling her fully equipped with a complete set of high-spec crockery, cutlery, pots, pans and cooking knives and implements. Basically, you could pick her up and drive straight off on your own adventure!
She has a few very small bodywork dents from her former commercial life, and the heating diode in her diesel heater needs replacing.
