Toyota Alphard
Pearlescent white Alphard AH10, imported from Japan in 2018. A smart conversion with solid, good-quality fittings comes with all the features you’d expect in a campervan built into a luxury Japanese limo-style people carrier. The Alphard features an automatic transmission, electric sliding side doors and privacy glass in the back. This is the top-of-the-range G model with a 3-liter V6 Toyota engine with a reputation for running forever. It runs on both petrol and LPG. A specialist installer fitted the LPG tank/conversion in December 2020.
It has alloy wheels, self-coloured door handles, electric folding, and heated wing mirrors. It also has automatic headlights and front and rear fog lights.
The cab has grey velour captain seats, fold-down armrests, and a partial leather steering wheel. It also has a 7” Xtrons infotainment unit with Android apps, Bluetooth, DAB radio, a CD player, and a satnav. All the steering wheel controls – volume, phone, etc.- work as they should.
The bodywork is in great condition, but the rear bumper has a few scrapes/scratches. It is booked for its annual habitation service next week. I don’t anticipate any issues, but if there are, they’ll be dealt with. MOT is not due ’till 18 August 2024. We’ve got service history, receipts and MOT records since it arrived in the UK in late 2018.
When parked, the passenger seat swivels to face the rear. The pop-up roof has two side-opening flyscreen vents/windows. The kitchen features a Vitrifrigo fridge/freezer, a sink, and a two-burner hob. Storage is above and below.
There is a large ’wardrobe’ storage area with a tambour door. Additional storage can be accessed from the rear and under the bed/seat. Further storage is available in the seat backs, sliding door and side panel. A detachable table extends the kitchen surface and is ideal for dining and laptop surfing.
The original interior is grey—as fitted to the top-of-the-range Alphards. The conversion has a grey lounge floor and grey upholstery. The units are dark wood laminate with aluminium trim. The worktop and table are metallic grey. The Toyota pleated curtains are black.
Lighting is fitted into the pop-up roof and below the top kitchen shelf, and this camper comes with a 7” Cello TV with fitted ariel. To keep you cosy in winter, a diesel space heater is fitted below the bench seat with a small tank behind the driver’s chair.
The two-seater sofa converts into a compact double bed.
Power comes from the leisure battery, fitted below the wardrobe, an electric hook-up cable and a good-quality rigid solar panel on the roof. Inside are plenty of USB charging points and a three-pin plug for when hooked up.
The 12-litre fresh and waste water tanks are at the back of the kitchen and can be accessed via the sliding door on the off side.
A drive-away awning is included to extend the living space.
A compact double, rock-n-roll double bed that converts from the bench seat in the back. There is no bed in the pop-up, though one could be added using boards.
