Conversion Description

I am selling my beloved Vikram, that I converted in 2020 – 2021. We have been all over Europe together and I will miss him dearly, but I’m getting the itch to convert another van!

Vikram is a 2 berth, 3 belted medium wheelbase, medium height, ex-British Gas van in the distinct British Gas blue. We’ve found however that we tend to be much more discreet than other vans when parking as no one think he’s a campervan!

There is plenty of roomy seating around the dinette and the additional bench behind the semi-bulkhead, with super comfy 100mm foam, clad in removable, washable and colourful faux suede fabric (chosen as very easy to wipe down and hard wearing). 6-8 adults can comfortably sit in the van! The bed can be converted from the dinette seating, using the table, into a roomy and very wide bed, with the additional length for taller people coming from the moveable bench by the bulkhead.

The van is filled with natural light whilst still remaining discreet from the outside; there is a blacked out opening window on the sliding door, blacked out windows in both the back doors, and a large 50 x 50cm Fiamma roof light which has great ventilation. The roof light is fitted with bug screen and black out blinds, and the other windows have homemade insulation covers. The sliding door also has a removable bug screen fitted with velcro around the door, and with magnetic closure so it’s easy to hop in and out of the van.

The floor is hard wearing vinyl and the walls are all fully insulated keeping the van cosy year round. There is a diesel heater fitted for extra warmth. This is fed straight from the van’s existing diesel tank, so no stinky/messy diesel smells in the van.

Vikram is fully off grid; the leisure battery is charged by solar, as well as the van’s starter battery. This powers the lighting, water pump, diesel heater, inverter to the 240v power sockets and USB ports. I use the battery to charge my phone, laptop, head torch, wifi router, as well as the lights etc, and I have never been below 80% charge!

The off grid electrical system is made up of:
160AH AGM leisure battery
50A MPPT DC-DC charger
250W sine wave inverter
200W mono-crystalline solar panel
12v LED lights
2 plug sockets
2 USB points
Renogy battery monitor
12v Diesel heater.

There is plenty of storage under the benches and in the kitchen area, as well as upper cupboards and a large area above the cab – I’ve lived in Vikram for periods of up to 3 months at a time and still have storage space to spare. There are 5 eye plates fixed at various locations to the ceiling (into the metal supports of the van), perfect for a washing line or hammock! There are also five hooks just at the entrance of the van perfect for coats and jackets.

In the kitchen there is a portable camping stove, sink, bespoke copper pipe tap with electric pump, plenty of food storage, and two 19L fresh and grey water tanks. There is also a top of the range Dometic CRE50 45 litre compressor fridge with removable freezer compartment. The Lagun table leg can be swivelled and height adjusted with ease. There is also an additional flip up table for when the van door is open, perfect for cooking outside.

Lighting wise, there are 6 ceiling light LEDS, and LED strips above the kitchen and under the upper cupboards.

There is a compost toilet which is super easy to use and clean, and a much preferable option to needing to go outside!

Vikram has been dearly loved and taken me near and far – I really hope he finds the perfect adventure team for his next chapter! If you have any questions, please get in touch: 07969 856509
