Peugeot Boxer 335 L2H2
Meet Volump. We bought her as a panel van in 2013 with the specific intention of converting her into a campervan.
She has had 3 owners (including us), is registered as a panel van and has 2 keys.
She is a Euro4 2.2HDI with a 6 speed manual gearbox, MOT’d until 25 October 2023.
In 2017 we had to change the clocks as our whole unit failed. We purchased a reconditioned unit that had a lower mileage, but we were unable to change mileage of the new unit to that of our old unit. So, although the current unit displays just over 99,000, we think the actual mileage of the engine is approximately 120,000.
The engine is sound, starts every time and the battery is 6 months old.
There are 2 belted seats up front.
She is short enough to fit into a standard parking space, with only a slight hangover, and is very easy to drive.
We had a DAB aerial adapter, Kenwood DD screen, DAB stereo and Kenwood CMOS rear view camera installed in 2014.
This is a perfect camper for anyone that wants to just jump in their campervan and go.
Before we go inside, we should have a quick look around the outside of the van. Starting at the front, Volump has her very own face mask. We purchased a POLAR thermal screen cover offering excellent insulation. Unlike the internal silver screens, we do not see very much condensation on the cab windows when the she’s wearing the thermal screen. There are Seitz S4 windows on each side of the van, 2 x hinged on the drivers side, and 2 x sliding windows on the passenger side, with an additional 2 x hinged windows in the rear doors, making 6 windows in total. All windows have integrated blinds and flyscreens. On the drivers side you will see the fresh water filler cap, the 240v mains inlet, and on the passenger side you will find the external BBQ point. Above the sliding door is a Fiamma F65S awning in polar white. And finally, under the van is the spare wheel and 2 x 66 litre water tanks. The fresh water is on the drivers side, and the waste water is on the passenger side.
We should now pop inside and have a look around the interior. After opening the sliding door, you will immediately see the back and side toilet walls, with a cassette toilet hatch and flush tank filler on the back wall. The cassette hatch opens to the outside of the van, meaning that you do not have to remove the cassette into the living space. There are steps and an outdoor table secured to the base of the side wall with coat hooks above. This is also where we secure the awning winder.
On entering the van, there is a light switch just inside the door on the left, which turns on the 3 main LED lights running down the centre of the ceiling. We can see that Volump has 2 front seat, with the passenger seat sitting on a swivel base. Above the cab is a huge storage space which can easily hold the thermal screen cover and all the bedding, with space to spare for coats. In front of the over-cab storage area is a Dometic Midi Heki rooflight (700×500) with handle and an integrated flyscreen and blind
Immediately behind the drivers seat you will find the kitchen unit with solid pine worktop. It houses a Smev 9222 sink and hob unit and a Waeco 48L compressor fridge. The unit has a slide-out drinks cabinet to the left of the fridge, a cutlery drawer above the fridge and a double cupboard beneath the sink. Inside the cupboard, you will find a shelf and 2 internal drawers. These drawers can be removed, and behind/below them you will find the water pump and Propex Heatsource HS2000 blown air heater. We upgraded the blown air heater ducting to acoustic ducting which is designed to reduce the noise of the heater. At the bottom of the unit you will see the inlet and outlet of the heating system.
Above the kitchen unit is one of the Seitz windows, with 2 overhead lockers above. Running along the underside of the overhead lockers are led lights, powered by a rocker switch. To the right of the window there is the main control panel, a double 240v plug socket, the switch for the fridge, which is wired directly to the leisure battery, and a switch to manually control the charging of the leisure battery from the vehicle battery.
To the right of the kitchen is a full height storage unit. This houses the main gas bottle in the bottom cupboard, which supplies gas to the hob and blown air heater. At the rear of the shelf above, behind a panel, is the power system for the campervan. We installed the Sargent EC155/EC51 power system with a built in 200W charger, a bank of 12v fuses, and 230v breakers. The EC155 controls the 12v equipment, manages the battery charging when hooked up – charging either the vehicle or leisure battery, which ever is lowest – and powers the 230v sockets when connected to shore power. The EC51 control panel monitors the levels on the under chassis water tanks, displays the battery levels and turns the water pump on and off. The remaining shelves, including the one housing the power system, make a large storage area.
Opposite the storage unit, you will find the door to the toilet. Inside there is a Thetford C200CW swivel cassette toilet with a manual flush, a mirror on the back of the door, a small shelf and a number of coat hooks. There is a light switch to the right of the door, connected to a square LED light in the ceiling.
Walking towards the back of Volump will take you into the main living area. This is where you will spend most of your time, when you are not sat under the awning. This is bright and airy space, with 4 Seitz windows and a Dometic Mini Heki Plus (400×400) with integrated blind and flyscreen, providing a large amount of natural light. The 2 bench seats are 110cm wide, with 4 inch thick foam cushions and large amounts of storage underneath. Under the passenger side seat you will find the gas bottle for the external BBQ point and the leg for the internal table. The seat on the drivers side holds the leisure battery and main kill switch. The remainder of space under each seat is used for storage. On the walls next to each seat you will find a drop down shelf which can be used to hold you drinks, snacks or books. In addition, the controls for the blown air heater can be found in the main living area, making it more convenient to control the temperature during the night. Above each bench seat is additional storage. There are 2 overhead lockers above one seat, with 1 locker and a shelf above the other. Within the shelf you will see a double USB socket and a number of “pockets”. Under each locker unit are a string of led lights with rocker switch, providing a lovely cosy area to sit in an evening. At night, the bench seats can be turned into a small double bed by pulling the slats of the benches together. The back cushions are used to make up the bed mattress, but additional mattress toppers are used to smooth out the joins of the cushions.
Finally, at the very back of the van, there is shoe storage just inside the back doors, and attached to one of the rear door is the internal table, made of the same solid pine as the kitchen worktop. Both the sliding door and rears door openings have detachable fly nets.
Included in the sale is the Polar thermal screen cover, an Outdoor Revolution Movelite T2 Midline Drive Away Air Awning with pump, Outdoor Revolution Movelite T2/Turismo Snugrug, 2 x mattress toppers and 2 x 3.9kg gas bottles.
Volump is a very much loved member of the family, and our heart and soul went into the conversion, but due to the introduction of a very large and goofy golden retriever, she is just not big enough for all 3 of us. She would make someone a very lovely “getting away from it all” vehicle.
Note: The van has all the criteria required by the DVLA to change body type to motor caravan, with the exception of the graphics – which we have, but never used. These can be included if someone wanted to try and convert her V5 registration.
The rear lounge converts into a small double transverse bed – 110cm wide by 184cm long.
We have 2 x foam mattress toppers for the bed to smooth out the joins in the seat cushions.
The contact details for this vehicle are no longer available because it has either sold or the listing has expired.
