Bella is the original campervan that started Quirky Campers! She’s a beautiful classic van, in great condition inside and out.
We purchased her in November 2021 from the Quirky Campers website and have enjoyed 3 happy years of adventures.
Now this is your opportunity to share in the joy and own a slice of Quirky history!
Bella’s engine was completely refurbished at 190,000 miles by the previous owners, which means she runs like a much younger van.
Bella is in beautiful condition for a van her age.
Mercedes 308 diesel engines are known for reliability and longevity and it’s not unusual to see a 308D with £400K+ miles on the clock.
Bella has been regularly maintained and serviced (receipts available for the past 4 years) most recently suspension arms, track rod ends and brake calliper replaced.
2000 miles since last oil and filter change.
Reversing camera fitted 2020.
New sink/hob and gas regulator fitted 2022.
Resprayed in Mercedes 381 Floraviolet & new flue cap fitted- 2023
Conversion Description
Bella is crafted from beautiful hand carved wood throughout. Reclaimed materials include the porthole window, made from an old washing machine door, and the handmade woodburning stove, made from a gas bottle with pitchfork legs.
Bella has sustainable cork flooring, new sink fittings, white Farrow & Ball paint and bespoke seat covers and curtains handmade in vintage fabric.
The van is fully insulated with sheep’s wool and fitted with solar panels.
New seat covers & curtains in vintage Sanderson Dandelion Clocks fabric handmade in 2022 at a cost of £250. Removable & washable.
Kitchen: 2 ring gas hob runs off Camping Gaz bottle, sink, bespoke oversink shelf with Roma chakra symbol, overhead storage cupboard, 75litre water tank, and handy extendable countertop for food prep, undersink curtained off storage area, pull out fridge, drawers for chopping board, cutlery, pans & kitchenware.
In addition to 3 comfortable seats in the cab, there are 2 cool lime green coloured coach seats located behind the cab area (with seatbelts) offering additional passenger seating when travelling. Also serve as useful seating in the kitchen area when cooking / eating.
Sofa seating around a hand carved wooden table transforms into a super king size bed – Extremely comfortable. (Owner is 6’5” & fits easily)
Storage: overhead shelving, drawers and a large storage area under seating/bed. Rear wall cupboard to house games, books etc
Lighting options: central hanging lamp over dining table, fairy lights, spot lighting in kitchen, as well as reading light beside the bed/rear seat.
Woodburning stove gets the van toasty and warm in no time. Included is a handmade stainless steel height adjustable heatguard, with matching bespoke Roma chakra symbol, to keep bedding contained & to act as a safety barrier.

Social seating and table area transforms into a massive, super king size bed, with space to sleep two adults and a child comfortably.
The van is fitted with a blackout curtain and window covers for a great night’s sleep.

The leisure battery is a LiFe PO4. 138A/hr, It’s a very good lithium battery that’s much lighter and more durable than lead/acid batteries. It charges from both the engine and the solar panel.

Reflected in the price but optional is a bespoke vintage style awning/sun canopy which we purchased late 2022 from Retro Canopies. It’s a 3mx2.5m awning in yellow, white, dark red stripe waterproof fabric (ordered from Spain). It has a wavey front pelmet decorated with dark red pompoms on 3 sides, eyelets for fairylights (included) or bunting. Dark red guy ropes & 3 telescopic aluminium awning poles included. Two 1.2m x 3m handmade windbreaks in matching fabric, 8 wooden windbreak poles included.
Cost £460 new & barely used.
Will also include lovely yellow & white, diamond pattern, outdoor, waterproof rug for under the awning.
Waterproof van cover for winter layups – Purchased for £80 in 2023.
The awning rail is a standard 6mm C channel.

Seating and table convert simply and easily into a 2m x 2m king size bed with ample space for 2 adults and 1 child.
There are brackets in the cab to take a stretcher style child bed. Unfortunately we didn’t get the bed when we bought Bella but it wouldn’t be too difficult to make one and the brackets are already there. See youtube video at around the 4:27 mark. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-JK8V1Wdy4A
