Renault Master Crusader
Fully converted ex St John’s ambulance. These crusaders are renowned for engine reliability and being a St John’s ambulance for the majority of its life, has been very well looked after. Fully insulated with 4 privacy windows installed. It comes complete with 150w solar panel, split charge relay and 2 x leisure batteries – you can comfortably live off grid for days. It is a beautiful bespoke conversion, created by a couple with degrees in furniture and product design and health and safety. We bought it from them 5 years ago on here and have absolutely loved our trips in the UK and in France.
The solid wood worktops and pull out table have a beautiful inlay inset, and the kitchen cupboards are all solid wood. A small pull out cupboard works perfectly for spices and other foods, and the original ambulance high level cupboards are in place along the full length of the van providing lots of storage. We have upgraded the fridge to a 50l Dometic fridge/freezer. The kitchen layout is great for cooking with a good amount of work surface! There is a pull out Thetford Porta Potti in the van, and an outside shower which can be used from the back of the van.
One of the wonderful extras is the small woodburning stove. We have slept in the van in January in -4 degrees and been toasty warm all night with the fire gently heating the van with bark bricks. It really adds comfort and warmth (both literally and psychologically – who doesn’t like relaxing staring into the fire?). And if that doesn’t appeal – the van also has a diesel heater.
The conversion is eye catching and characterful and always gets compliments when we park up and the door is open!
