We love our van and are sad to sell it, but we have to because we have moved to Canada. It has a flexible modular double bed in the back. The wooden support structure is not bolted down, meaning it can all come out, and ample luggage, 4 bicycles, or golf clubs, for example, could be transported. There is a surprising amount of storage under the wooden bed frame. We had a dream trip to Rome and back, and we took 3 large suitcases, 2 small suitcases, and there was still room for picnic, wine and other supplies! AND, 2 people could still lie down in the back. The miles per gallon are as good as any vehicle on the road, even up to 50 mpg. The engine is in excellent shape, and has been well maintained. It did not burn or leak any oil over 5000 miles. The recent MOT is from August 2024, and there are records of service history. It has near 136,000 miles, and ran flawlessly on our recent trip. The average lifetime for the tdi engine is between 240,000 and 450,000, depending on the maintenance schedule.
We are selling well under the market price of between 5000 and 6000, as we need it sold. Priced at 4000, or a near offer. An amazing buy!
The four essential aspects which make this Blue Smartie van an attractive conversion are:
1. Privacy black-out curtains behind the cab seats. These prevent any light, nor any nosey passers-by from seeing into the bed platform area.
2. A made to measure modular wooden platform which supports the mattress, and provides a huge amount of storage underneath. (See photo).
3. The mattresses and modular wooden frame can be moved to allow a dining or work table to be mounted on a removable steel post. Campers can sit either side on bench seating.
4. The entire interior is insulated.
Double bed for 2. It is an ikea double. There is a roof vent, not electric, and a ceiling light. The two side doors are sliding doors.
