Detailed Information
Vehicle Description

This listing is for Bubbles, our much loved 1999 VW T4 home camper conversion.
Starting out life as a Transco utility vehicle (hence the rare VW ice blue colour) she soon went into private hands in 2007.
We bought her in 2010 with the side windows fitted and a row of 3 seats in the back ,having been previously used a car. We kept her in this state and just carried a tent in the back for family camping until 2019 when we decided to bite the bullet and turn her into a camper for 2.
This van is in pretty clean condition for 26 years old, we are lucky enough to have kept her in a large carport for the last 15 years so rarely sees any wet weather. There are one or two small car park dents, some stone chips on the bonnet . The van is clean underneath and just had a new centre section on the exhaust. We had an advisory last year on an area the size of a 50p for corrosion but this has been done. The front wheelarches were starting to show light rust so this also has been done.
Generally, the van is in really good condition and gets a lot of admiring comments.
This year it passed the MOT with no advisories and is next due 05/04/26
The cam belt was changed in 2022 along with the glow plugs and the filters and oil are changed every year regardless of miles. There are 2 folders of bills showing the service history.
The 1.9TD has always been reliable but not the quickest, we can still keep up on the motorways but hills require a bit more patience! A trip round Scotland with a detailed fuel check gave just over 40 MPG which isn’t too bad.
An upgraded loom to the headlights was fitted a few years ago as the standard lights were like candles.
A scorpion immobiliser was fitted to the van when purchased
Electric windows and sunroof
Adjustable roof bars ( from a Jeep )
Witter tow bar and electrics ( fitted for a bike rack)
Fox 16″ alloy wheels ( weight rated to 950kg each)

Conversion Description

I converted the van in 2019 using mostly scrap timber as we wanted a beachy usable van and nothing too polished.
The van is fully insulated and has an electric hookup running through an RCD box and using the proper spec sockets and cables.
The 12v side is a Durite kit with a small leisure battery to charge laptops phones etc and run the lights and is charged from the van when running.
We did have an integrated gas twin burner but removed it in favour of a single portable unit to give more space.
There is a Thetford toilet and a 3 way fridge which is pretty big and actually doubles up as a seat!
Chairs, cables, table, and window screens all live under the bed and are easily accessible.
There is a cupboard with a drop-down door which doubles up as a table. We keep plates, kettles etc in there and, in the bottom section of the cupboard we keep bedding and blankets.
There is also an inflatable drive-away awning which will come with the van for longer stays.
Side awning rail fitted (like a multi-rail)
Water is kept in a handy insulated container with a tap -mainly for the kettle.
As the van is mainly used on serviced sites, heating is simply a small oil filled radiator which works very well.

Beds Description

The bed is a factory side bed that pulls out to make a double which is 120cm wide. We went for this to keep the full length of the van free for bikes or a surfboard or two.
It also lifts up on gas struts to give access to storage and the leisure battery. Under the bed at the front are two doors for access to the toilet and chairs etc

Main Bed Length
180cm
