CITROEN RELAY 33 HDI 120 LWB
Reg Number to complete any checks: AV08 SVP
I’ve been living in this van full-time for the past year. The conversion had already begun before I purchased it, and I completed it to its current setup.
This Luton was initially used as a removal van and stored in a warehouse, so there is no rust underneath; there is a light bit of surface rust around the arches. It has a 2.2-litre diesel engine and, even when fully loaded, comfortably achieves around 36 MPG. With six gears, it cruises along really nicely.
As you’ll see from the last MOT, there were some advisories about the tyres. All of them have since been replaced with premium wet-weather tyres, and two of the rims are new as well.
There isn’t much paperwork in terms of service history, but if you check the MOT records, you’ll see that it has been well-maintained and hasn’t required much attention. When I bought it, I had a full multi-point check done, and it was declared to be in fantastic condition.
The mileage is very low at just 65,000, and it’s taken me all over the country without a single issue. I’ve made two long trips from the South Coast up to Scotland and would happily do it again without hesitation.
The conversion boasts the following:
Gas oven and two hobs β One single hob is currently installed at the back. An auto-switchable attachment (not yet installed) will be included with the van. I never got around to fitting it.
Water β 175-litre fresh water tank for the kitchen sink, shower, and bathroom sink. All water is filtered through a three-tier filtration system. 100-litre grey water tank.
Heating β A wood burner. A diesel heater is connected to the main tank and can be run via Bluetooth, a timer, or the control panel.
Sleeping β Full-size double bed in the front cabin, half-boxed off for some separation from the main cabin. Two porthole-style windows in this area, one at each end of the bed. A single bed in the back with its own door.
Electrics β 630W solar panels. Victron split charger. Fogstar Drift 608Ah battery. 3000W Renogy inverter. Victron MPPT 100 | 30 Smart Solar Controller. Victron Smart Main charger.
Multiple 240V plugs and 12V USB points around the van.
The wiring could do with some tidying up where the main service area is located, but Iβll include all the additional hardware purchased to complete this.
Storage β The floor has been raised to house the electrics and water tanks. The rear is fitted with racking and shelves for storing boxes etc. There is also a wardrobe and space under the ottoman-style sofa.
Additional β Two roof windows β one with an electric extractor fan (with remote). Thereβs also a main cabin window above the sink. Spice rack. Magnetic knife holder.
Seating – Comfortable seating area with storage underneath. There is an attachable table which I haven’t pictured, but allows you to sit down and eat. There is a captains swivel chair but its currently not installed as I didn’t use it. Is included in sale though.
Iβve managed to stay off-grid for up to 8 weeks without needing any additional provisions. The battery and electrical system are extremely efficient, and with the large water tank, you can comfortably stay wherever you like without worrying about fetching essentials.
Cabin space for a full double bed – there is currently no mattress as I have taken this with me. There is a single bed at the back of the cabin with its own door.

Quirky loves this style means that Quirky Campers would potentially approve this vehicle for hiring. However, Quirky have not approved a Gas Safe certificate, a Weighbridge certificate, or the vehicle's electrics. Buyers must check these themselves. For some tips on what to look out for read this. If the listing has no Gas Safe certificate, no unladen weight and no electrical sign-off please proceed with caution!
