Charming VW LT28 classic camper. 3 seats.

This van was converted by a Dutch retiree over many years (hence the Dutch plates in some photos). Everything he made he did well and the wood and veneer effect is very pleasant to be in, something akin to being in a ski chalet. It’s been a pleasure to own and we’ve had some great adventures in “Brunhilda the Breadbin”, especially in Europe where having a left hand drive van is desirable.

This van will be eligible for historical vehicle status in May 2028, so tax and MOT exempt at that point.

It has a refillable gas tank with fittings for all of Europe.

It has 90 litres fresh water, 60 litres waste.

It has a gas fridge. Also runs on mains or 12 volt. We always run on gas.

It has lots of small but efficient cupboard space which is all wooden and really nice.

It has a built in toilet which comes forward on rails so you can remove the cassette via the back door and therefore never bring it into the living area.

It has a gas heater also. Although we never used it.

We have made only 1 modification:

We added a third seat which folds away in the back. This has isofix and was professionally installed and bolted to the chassis.

My honest appraisal is that the van has some minor works which could be done, or lived with:

1. The coolant tank has a minor leak, it’s slow and we patched it. But a new tank would be better.
2. Once we had a loose connection on the oil alarm. Haven’t heard this in years. It makes a noise when the alarm goes off. This is short lived, someone with more expertise than us can probably fix it if it occurs again.
