This is my 4th van conversion, and the design has been evolving and improving each consecutive time. This conversion has a lovely warm, homely feel, aided by the wooden cladding and all bespoke units, furniture and features. It boasts a lot of storage throughout, including a huge under bed garage space, above the cab, in the kitchen unit, overhead storage above the bed and the dining area seats double up as storage too!
The bed has the handy option of extending to full length thanks to the nifty flip up section. A dining table slides out from within the bed frame and you can sit opposite your comrade to enjoy a meal cooked on the delightful Thetford Topline 922 2 hob cooker top.
The water is operated with a foot-pump via the charming copper tap into a very large kitchen sink. There’s a nice amount of chopping space on the Western Hemlock slab worktop. There is a 12v coolbox for any refrigeration needs.
The space can be very conveniently heated by the top of the range Propex Heatsource HS2000 gas space heater. All gas and electric work has been certified safe.
Onto the electrics, there’s a whopping 330w solar panel that feeds into a high quality solar charge controller (30 amp MPPT EPever recommended by Bimble Solar), which is all charging the 110amh leisure battery. This in turn powers the 6 LED Warm White spot lights, the extractor fan, the 12v coolbox, USB charging points, the gas heater digital stat and ignition and a car lighter plug ( you can buy laptop adaptors for these).
I am over the moon with how this conversion has turned out, the overall feel is one of homeliness, which has been achieved without neglecting the practical aspects of the conversion along the way! I very much look forward to hearing from you, thanks for reading, Ed.
