I completed this conversion in order to travel Europe and have spent many happy months living off-grid in my wee home-on-wheels! She has been converted with love, and kept in a really good condition.
Insulation:
The van is wrapped in a double layer of aluminium foil bubble wrap.
There is a layer of “Earth Wool” insulation which is a sustainable light-weight alternative to sheeps-wool, providing excellent thermal performance.
The final insulation is the 9mm pine cladding.
Handmade blackout curtain (with thick insulant lining), which divides the cab from the living space, for privacy and warmth
The van stays cool in the heat, and remains warm in the cold… It is insulated thoroughly: I have travelled the continent and genuinely never had any trouble with the internal temperature.
This conversion includes the following:
Three-Way Fridge: Dometic Combicool Absorption Coolbox – 12V/230V/Gas Cartridge – 40 Litres – Chrome/Charcoal
2 Burner hob and grill which uses CampingGaz (easily available at most European petrol stations)
20 litre waste water tank
20 litre water tank
Stainless steel sink (I have never installed a water pump/tap because I simply don’t require it; would be a very quick job if you wanted it)
Carbon monoxide alarm and fire extinguisher
Kitchen Equipment: Kettle, pots and pans, grill pan, utensils (including spatula, salad servers and cutlery)
Electrics:
– 100 Watt Solar panel
– Split charge relay
– MPPT charge controller
– 110 Amp Hour AGM Battery
– Pure Sine 240v inverter with USB plug
– 2 x 240v socket outlets
– 6 x 12v ceiling mounted warm-white LED lights
Materials:
Units are constructed using marine-grade ply-wood or 9mm tongue-in-groove pine with a hard-waring lacquer finish, giving them exceptional toughness and longevity
Beautiful handmade wood interior – I used a mix of new and recycled wood, and made an oak counter-top for the kitchen
High quality commercial grade vinyl flooring, with wood effect and texture
The seat cushions are upholstered in Indian Kantha quilting. They are removable and reversible!
Storage:
– 1.5m long drawer on the floor under the table; this extends fully out of the rear of the van, providing an amazing outdoor table/work-surface/kitchen bench! (See my instagram @muddybecauseofit)
– Over 7m worth of 40cm high shelving under the sofa seats (storage boxes included)
1 double height storage area, accessible by lifting the sofa top
– Kitchen storage:
– large cupboard with food shelf and utensil box
– two wall-mounted shelves for spices, condiments etc
– 3 large drawers lined with anti-slide grip

Quirky loves this style means that Quirky Campers would potentially approve this vehicle for hiring. However, Quirky have not approved a Gas Safe certificate, a Weighbridge certificate, or the vehicle's electrics. Buyers must check these themselves. For some tips on what to look out for read this. If the listing has no Gas Safe certificate, no unladen weight and no electrical sign-off please proceed with caution!
