Cosy Scandi Style VW Caddy Maxi

I converted this van for personal use as I work away from home 4 days a week. I finished it in December 2023 and have used it every week since then with no problems at all. I wanted it to be basic and cosy but have everything you need for a few nights away.

The walls and ceiling are lined with Birch ply, the ceiling has a topographic pattern etched into it, complete with 3 remote controlled fully dimmable led lights. The passenger side sliding door is lined with green tweed, just for something a bit different to 4 way stretch carpet.

The bulkhead has been removed and the van fully lined with sound deadening and 60mm of insulation. The floor has been insulated ply lined and then finished with laminate flooring. There is plenty of storage under the bed and either side of the slide out kitchen unit. The cushions are custom made and covered memory foam, it is very comfortable.

The Chinese diesel heater has been upgraded with a challenger wifi thermostat, this can be controlled with your phone over wifi and you can run it as a proper on/off thermostat so the van doesn’t get too hot. Note that the van does not currently have shore power, I have always just charged the battery off the alternator as I drive it so much. If shore power is required I can add this no problem for the cost of the parts to do it.
