Detailed Information
Vehicle Description

Eddie is a well-maintained good-looking Mercedes Sprinter which we bought 4 years ago, serviced on time and not due next service for about 15,000 miles and MOT until May next year and Gas Safety check (if you decide to hire him out) due in April.
Cruise control and great to drive, just returned from a 3000 mile month long trip around Europe at 31.4mpg.
Recent new windscreen due to a crack from a stone so super clear visibility.
Great 4 season Continental 4 Season tyres approved for Winter in Europe so great for Scotland too, 5mm at the rear and 6.5mm at front so many, many miles to go.
Recent clutch and recent refurbishment on the gearbox.

Conversion Description

I built Eddie 4 years ago to go to Triathlon events as well as touring and holidays so our priorities were getting a good night’s sleep, being able to get clean easily anywhere, loads of storage space and being able to cook good food.

Eddie has a full size fixed double bed with a window for ventilation and a Maxx Fan in the ceiling, these run almost silent on the low setting and barely a whisper at 30% and gives a cool breeze on the hottest nights even with the window secured for an off-grid park-up, the fan is remote controlled so you can turn it up and down from bed and the light switch is just above you when you wake up.

The shower is full height so you can stand up in it, and when you’re not using it, wet hiking gear can be hung up or wetsuits or other gear and hidden away behind the curtain, the shower has good pressure but low volume so you won’t use too much water in it and the toilet lives in a pull out drawer than can be hidden away or used as a step to get into bed or as an extra seat for guests, there is storage in the back of the pull-out for chemicals and other household cleaning equipment.

In the kitchen there is loads of storage for pots, pans and for dry food in the drawers and cupboards, all the drawers lock shut for travel and have a soft close action when you’re parked up, there is a small electric oven that you might consider upgrading to an air fryer.

The two-burner hob sits on top of the fridge unit, the fridge is a 240v household fridge-freezer so it is much bigger than average and there is a freezer for ice-creams and ice cubes, it’s still really efficient and only uses a small amount of the available power per day.

We built in a large deep kitchen sink with a shower head style tap so washing up is as easy as at home even for big pans or your pots can be stashed in the sink if you don’t want to do it now.

Clothes storage is in cupboards next to the bed and we easily packed a month’s worth of clothes, we pack washing and beach towels and coats in the over-cab storage and there is masses of space under the bench seat for shoes and bulky items.

In the garage there is lots of versatile space for paddleboards, bikes, BBQ stuff, hiking equipment; whatever your hobby is, it will fit in here. Also the electrics and fuses are easily accessible to adults but out of reach of kids, the Truma combi heater also ensures nothing freezes or gets damp in winter.

The central area of Eddie is occupied by the bench seat and a table swivels out from the unit opposite to eat, work or play games and can be stashed away if not needed, it’s a great spot opposite the door and with windows to see what’s going on or close the blackout blinds and watch a movie.

The sliding door opens out under the awning and is a great place to relax sheltered from the sun or rain or even the snow once for us! You can set out your table and chairs and relax.

The hot water and heating are provided by a Truma Combi 4e, this runs on LPG that can be refilled at petrol stations in the UK and across Europe so you don’t need a spare bottle and it’s less than half the price of bottled gas. The gas is safely stored in a sealed cupboard with an external dropout vent.

The Truma heater keeps you lovely and warm in all 4 seasons and has a thermostat and timer so you can even wake up to hot water if you need to get going in the morning. In the summer it runs as hot water only you don’t have to have the hating on. The LPG tank has a Bluetooth level sensor which will alert you if it is low or the Truma can run fully electric on a hook up.

Off grid electric is a massive 640amp Leoch deep cycle leisure battery bank with 360 watts of solar and a 3000 watt pure sine wave inverter meaning you can run normal equipment anywhere you go. The batteries are also charged as you drive by a Victron B2B at 360 watts and if you have hook up at a steady 120 watts all night long. Usage and charging can be monitored via the Victron SmartShunt on the app.

Eddie carries 75 litres of fresh water which typically lasts 2 of us 3-4 days showering everyday and has room for 50 litres of wastewater off grid. Both the fresh and waste have level sensors so you know when to fill up or empty.

Eddie was hired out with Quirky for 2.5 seasons and the rental income really enabled us to have some great holidays and meet lots of nice people.

We previously had a fitted Rock and Roll bed with 2 seat belts, we still have this and Eddie’s new owners could easily re-install it to give extra belted seats and an extra bed.

Beds Description

Standard double Ikea mattress and slatted frame, we sleep great as the bed is fixed and a proper mattress, not one that is folded up as cushions for seating. Very easy for his new owners to replace the mattress with a new one if they want.
Secure ventilating window next to the bed for warm weather and light switch in ceiling to reach without getting out.
Kids bed that can be assembled across the front seats included.
Previously had a rock and roll bed with 2 seatbelts fitted that would be easy for Eddie’s new owners to re-fit for more berths, we have this available if required.
