Mercedes Sprinter 313CDi LWB High Top
Eugene is our AOB (awesome orange beast)! We have owned Eugene since Jan 2019 and did the conversion ourselves.
We absolutely adore Eugene’s colour, he stands out among the rows of boring white vans and campers.
Eugene has been a fabulous dual purpose vehicle for us. He was originally purchased to tow our horse trailer to events and provide somewhere warm and dry for my non-horsey husband to hide from the rain, with the added bonus of being an excellent holiday vehicle too!
We have used Eugene at day and overnight horse events, travelled the UK and Europe for holidays and utilised him as a mobile office too!
Eugene was registered in 2010 10reg, and is still a van with windows on the V5. MOT valid until Feb 2025 (all details of MOT history can be found online) and has been regularly serviced. A service will be carried out prior to purchase too.
The current mileage is just shy of 240k however the engine was replaced in Jan 2023 at 232,670miles. The replacement engine had circa 137k miles at fitting and has had an oil pump pressure plug fitted (keeps oil pump in high pressure mode).
2.1l diesel engine, 6 manual gears, cruise control. Eugene has had a Pendle Remap to 200bhp too.
Externally Eugene is in a tidy condition, usual age related marks, cosmetic only. We had new windows fitted on the sliding door, side and rear with opener. Fitted all round with BFG KO2 245/70/R16 tyres including spare which is underslung. There is a towbar with 13pin electrics fitted, plus reversing camera. Eugene is plated to tow 2t, this can be easily increased to 2.8t if needed. A Fiamma DJ200 bike rack is fitted and comes with a light board also. We fitted a pull out Thule step to the side sliding door, wind deflectors to both front doors and a Fiamma Caravan Store awning.
We converted Eugene ourselves and loved every second of it! We have chosen to paint the interior a neutral colour in order to allow the new owners to put their own mark on Eugene. The floor is still bare wood as it suited our lifestyle, but would look amazing with a bright floor covering! We insulated the walls and ceiling but chose not to do the floor and maximise the internal height instead (my husband is 6ft4!).
Up front Eugene has two single seats both mounted on R&J swivel bases. Under the passenger seat and purpose built central storage box cum bench seat are 2x 110ah leisure batteries with split charger. These charge when the engine is running and from EHU via a 10amp charger. Behind the passenger seat is an isolator switch and an LCD battery level display as well as 12v and usb ports. There is a shelf above the cab for storage with additional lights fixed on the underside above the cab (these run off the van battery, not the leisure batteries). The remaining ceiling lights are dimmable, remote controlled LED lights. Behind the cab is a twin Ford Custom rear seat, one with IsoFix, and an additional rail to swap out for a single Ford Custom seat (single not included). There is a wall mounted bracket for the removable swivel table, hooks and storage baskets and a removable step cover.
Eugene has a spacious shower/toilet built in. The shower boasts a full size ceramic shower tray and a snazzy orange shower, as well as splashes of orange on the ceiling and the shower curtain! The toilet is currently a basic composting toilet but would be easily swapped out for a chemical or waste separator toilet. The shower is fed from its own 24l water tank which can be heated via a water exchange system. Waste goes into a 23l Fiamma tank (included) connected outside the van (portable, not underslung). The shower space is big enough for a small clothes airer and a heating vent is useful for drying clothes!
The kitchen is fitted with a Smev sink and 2 ring gas hob. The sink is fed from its own 57l water tank and feeds into an internal 10l waste bottle of which there are three included to keep the need for waste disposal at a minimum. A full 6kg flogas gas bottle is included and housed in the rear of the van in a gas locker. There is also a Vitrifigo C42L fridge with a small freezer box and external compressor to maximise internal space! The kitchen unit itself is fitted with a fold up/down work surface area, multiple storage drawers and has additional storage pockets above ideal for tea/coffee/condiments etc. A Truma TT2 water heater provides hot water to the sink and shower (by way of water exchange) when the heater is running or when on EHU. Between the kitchen and the raised bad is a Fiamma manual roof vent.
Eugene has a lovely raised (but not too high!) big fixed bed, just a touch narrower than a superking with two reading lights complete with USB ports fitted to the headboard. There are several storage baskets fitted to the walls for clothes. Underneath the bed is an area currently used as a dog crate, but the front is easily removed to create additional storage instead. There is an additional pull out drawer for storage under this area and another under the toilet too.
We keep Eugene warm with a 5kw diesel heater which comes with an exhaust silencer. There are two outlets, one into the toilet/shower, and one into the main body of the van. The control panel/thermostat is mounted at the foot of the bed. The diesel fuel bottle is fitted to the rear door.
Behind the rear doors is a large storage area, a 13amp socket and the gas locker. This area is also fitted with LED lights.
For safety Eugene is fitted with a fire extinguisher, a smoke alarm and a carbon monoxide alarm.
With the exception of the of the over cab lights and the 13amp socket in the rear all other electrics are 12v and run from the leisure batteries.
We have had Eugene on a weighbridge and he comes in at 3020kg, as seen in the listing pic. This is with about ¼tank diesel, a splash of water in the tank and no passengers.
Questions, viewings and offers welcome! We hope someone else can enjoy Eugene as much as we have!
Fixed rear bed, just shy of super king size
Space at front with seats folded for a travel cot or small cot bed (cot bed made for purpose can be supplied)
