Ford Transit MWB 2.6L TDI
She drives really well for a 20 year old van. Last year, we had all the rust on her undercarriage and bodywork treated and also resprayed her outside – so she’s nice and smart! I have owned her for 2 years and serviced her whilst I have had her – last service didn’t show any issues at all and the MOT mainly covered her rust, which we subsequently treated. We only have a patchy service history from the person we bought her from – but no issues during our ownership.
She has been re-built since we owned her as the original layout was a little clumsy. Now she has a popular rear fixed bed, which allows lots of storage underneath, accessible from the rear doors. She has a pull out dining table and underneath is a cupboard which houses the pull out cassette toilet (we tend to stay on serviced sites, so haven’t used it). There is an L Shaped kitchen with fridge/freezer, storage, sink and gas hob. The gas isn’t connected (everything is in place to do so should you wish – we just prefer to use electric) – so you can pull out the gas hob and use the space for an electric griddle or similar if you prefer. Over the cab, is a huge storage locker which essentially houses all out ‘stuff’ when we travel and keeps it safe and secure. There is a heater under one of the dining seats if it gets cold, but she’s so well insulated, we’ve not had to use that. There are a few bits that can do with tidying up (ie: speakers aren’t connected and we were advised that we may want to get a better inverter should we want to go ‘off grid’ – the solar panels work fine for us as we usually plug in on site – but everything is in place to refine / upgrade should the new owner wish. We’ve had loads of great trips in her and are now moving on to a larger caravan, so reluctantly are selling her.
There is a fixed double bed at the rear, which folds up to a day bed during the day and pulls down to a full length double bed at night.
