Prior to the MOT in February 2022 a large amount of work was completed on the van. Totalling around £4000 to get her back into the great shape she is now in!
Work completed for MOT February 2022….
New driver and passenger side sills and step pans.Rear breaks stripped, checked and cleaned, caliper sliders free off and lubricated, N/S/F Anti roll bar drop link replaced, Break load sensing valve removed and replaced with new. Break system bleed through. New Wiper blades, cut off N/S and O/S outer sills, cut corrosion from inner sills, make up and weld in plates, Weld in new sills to both sides of van. Cut out corroded rear spring anchor points off, fabricate new mountings ands weld to chassis, refit springs with new shackle bolts. Corrosion cut out of, O/S/R and N/R lower panels, Plates made up and welded to panels. All repairs primed and painted/ undersealed. Carry out headlamp rejuvenation. Complete set of new break discs and pads, New break lines, including main front to rear lines, New turbo Boost pipe, New rear anti roll bar brushes, New battery. New oil, oil filter and air filter.
Initially designed and converted to be our home on wheels, however we decided we wanted a bigger van for ourselves. Fern can be driven on a standard UK driving license. Fully converted to be the perfect offgrid home or holiday van. Fern has been freshly painting with military trade paint in a vibrant mint turquoise colour (Paints for Trade uk)
Inside she is beautifully bespoke and unique, with a combination of reclaimed materials and new fittings; With a calming feel inside, Fern has been oiled with nontoxic Osmo Oil and hard wax oil and painted sage green with Non toxic breathable, wipeable paint.
We chose colours that mimic nature to create a sense of the outside, along with the reclaimed wood and live edge wood we have used. The upholstery can be taken off to be clean when needed and the cushions are hand-made from vintage Laura Ashley Fabric and pure linen. The epoxy floor gives a little more room than the wood tongue and groove so standing is possible for someone of 5.11ft. The space is versatile, with a large dining area with back doors opening up to the outside, which converts into a full double bed.
Fern’s bodywork is not in prime condition, a few dents and scraps here and there, due to being 20 years old! But freshly painted and rust treated she is looking mighty fine.
