We had always dreamed of owning a campervan, along came Fergus! We have managed to take Fergus around the UK and Europe in both summer and winter, we couldn’t of asked for a better van, loads of room and cosy living. Unfortunately due to work we are moving away and selling our dream van, we wish that we could keep him but hope that we can give him to a lovely new owner instead. Fergus is a very comfortable, cosy campervan conversion that feels more like a home on wheels. All furniture has been hand crafted, with a mixture of both varnished & painted wood. The countertop also features a raw bark edge.
The van can be completely off-grid thanks to its massive 330W solar panel and 180 amph leisure battery with a bluetooth Victron Bluesolar charge controller. In winter months when the sun is low and scarce, you might want to give the 180 amph leisure battery a charge via mains power, you can do this through the Victron bluetooth smart charger located in the boot. Simply plug the external hook up in & power up the smart charger using the 24V mains socket. Also in the electrical cupboard is a 12V to 24V inverter which allows you to charge laptops and other devices whilst using solar power. There is also capability to fit a trickle charger from the car battery as there are cables running from the leisure batter that currently are not live.
In summer months we do not find that we need to top up the leisure battery with mains power even with the Vitrifrigo C25 fridge running 24/7.
To keep warm on winter nights Fergus also has a Propex Gas Heater (HS2000). You can operate this using the control panel beside the electrical interface, which moderates power levels. This heats the van up unbelievably quickly for a super cosy home.
In the kitchen area there is a lovely black glass 2 burner Thetford hob, specifically designed for campervans. Next to it is the very large sink, which has a copper tap that operates with the foot pump system. Water is pumped directly from a 25L fresh water container under the sink & waste goes into a 15L grey water container below. Both are manually filled & emptied. For extra time off grid there is another 25L fresh water container in the garage (boot) area. Also stored in the cupboards under the sink is Vitrifrigo C25 fridge-freezer, worth £870. There is also a fire extinguisher stored under the sink for safety. Both end cupboards in the kitchen unit are free to fill with food, pots, pans, anything you fancy. Above the kitchen is a fan which can extract air to improve ventilation or can also blow air in which on hot days/nights can cool the van right down!
Above the kitchen area is a very spacious overhead cupboard, we managed to fit our laundry basket, loads of fleeces, hoodies, blankets & also a few kitchen bits too. On the inside of the cupboard doors is a magnetic knife strip to hang any metal utensils & a mirror.
Next to the kitchen are 2 cube seats, which also acts as great storage spaces. We used one for all our electrical including laptops, go pro, speaker & all the cables possible. Then the other we used for toiletries, games & lots of other items. There is 2 white blackout roller blinds covering the kitchen window & the opening into the cab.
Just above one of the seat cubes you can find our 4 x USB ports, 1 x 12V port, 2 x 24V sockets, light switch for the 4 x LED spot lights, power indicator & heater controls.
The fixed extendable bed works amazingly well, allowing even those over 6ft to get a good nights sleep in the van. Above the bed there are also 2 cabinets for clothes & 4 hanging baskets for any extra storage you might need.
In the garage (boot) you will find our solar controller, mains switch board, 180 amph leisure battery & Propex gas heater. The battery & heater have both been boxed in to meet habitation safety requirements. The Campingaz 907 bottle is also stored in the garage in a lockable steel box with floor ventilation to meet safety protocols, we chose to go for campingaz as these are easily exchangeable in the whole of Europe. The fixed bed which creates the garage has to be one of our favourite places in the van just because of the vast amount of storage.
Fergus also has a smoke alarm in the garage & a carbon monoxide alarm in the living space.
For an extra sense of security we had drop-locks fitted on all doors.
The bed is a lovely fixed Queen size, with a memory foam topper (unbelievably comfy). It is easily suitable for those over 6ft to sleep with lots of room. As seen in the photos the bed is extendable using the extra cushion, which also acts as a roof deck seat thanks to its waterproof base.

Quirky loves this style means that Quirky Campers would potentially approve this vehicle for hiring. However, Quirky have not approved a Gas Safe certificate, a Weighbridge certificate, or the vehicle's electrics. Buyers must check these themselves. For some tips on what to look out for read this.
