The owner having had 3 previous motorhhe has always looked to buy the ultimate motorhome “The Fleetwood Discovery”
This Fleetwood was purchased in Florida USA in 2017 and was driven all over Florida, down into Mexico and many other states.
It was enjoyed so much he shipped it back to the UK at an overall cost of £70k plus including shipping, duties and purchase price. Today the exact same model are for sale in the USA for the same price as we paid.
Since having it home we have driven all over the UK, down through France and on to Portugal several times and it has never missed a beat.
This motor home gives nothing but confidence when driving and, having the rear mounted Diesel engine, it gives a quiet, smooth and economical drive.
This motorhome is not to be confused with cheaper Petrol / LPG versions or lesser brands.
This motorhome has twin slide side extensions giving a huge living space. It has a complete double bedroom with ensuite shower room. A fully fitted kitchen with huge American style fridge freezer, cooker, sink ect, dinning room with four chairs, a second double bed/ sofa. All the main cabin chairs revolve to face living area. All mod cons including air con, heating, 100 gallon water tank.
With extra thick Corian work surfaces, solid wood cabinetry, luxury leather seating and huge water and fuel carrying capacity, our vehicle is ready for the next family to simply load with food and bedding before heading off on their travels in absolute confidence.
As an off-grid home, we have installed a 32 inch 12v Smart TV to the main saloon and a 22 inch in the rear bedroom, each with their own solar panel and battery banks. These can be run from an SD card for downloaded films or by using the Fire Stick tethered to your smart phone data.
There is also a separate pair of batteries with their own solar panel that are for back-up for the engine starter batteries, should they ever need it. In all, there are 13 heavy duty batteries located around the vehicle in order to keep her off grid, along with an Onan Quiet 7,500 diesel generator built into the chassis that starts on the button from inside. The generator supplies ample power to drive the two aircon units, the washer drier and the convection microwave whilst recharging all the batteries, in the unlikely event that they run down.
With the legendary reliability of a Cummins engine coupled to a 6 speed Allison gearbox set quietly to the rear of the back axel, this extremely sought after popular model is designed to cross desserts, climb mountains and pull a 4 WD or boat with power to spare and to get you there and back without any hassle.
Instead of driving a fully loaded (weight wise), converted 7.5 tonne petrol truck chassis with the smaller wheels on an narrower axle with leaf springs and disc breaks, the pusher is based on a luxury Freightliner executive coach chassis with full air suspension and air breaks all round. Being nowhere near it’s designed weight limit, even when full of fuel, diesel and stores, this is a totally different ride and a much more pleasant and safer drive too. Instead of a hot, overstretched V8 howling under the inconvenient doghouse between the front seats, you can relax and enjoy the soft, air ride journey with the quiet, reassuring hum of the best diesel engine in the world purring away 30 feet behind you, under the double bed.

The extra torque and power allows the coach builders to use the best equipment and materials rather than concentrate on weight-saving with either the mechanics or the fit-out.
BAD POINTS:
SIDE LOCKERS – She needs a decent mechanic or engineer or handy man type to sort out the latches on the side lockers. There was a design fault whereby one small part of the long hanging hinges failed and allowed the doors to move laterally which caused the latches and catches to mis locate. I have bought the repair kit from Fleetwood and a mechanic did fit these successfully along the driver’s side but some of the latches are stuck or damaged. I was led to believe by a fella who was going to sort them out and finish the job, that he’d ordered the other parts but he hadn’t. Fleetwood is a reputable company, keeps meticulous records of each vehicle it has manufactured and responds to all email enquiries. There are various RV a spares specialists in the UK who are very helpful and passionate about their businesses. Some of the parts are on order now with Star Spangled Spanner. A really determined and patient person will be able to sort this out without spares. Just time, we are leaving for Greece this summer and have too much to sort out to deal with this.

AIR SENSOR GUAGE – When starting the vehicle, depending upon how long it has stood, the compressor builds up the air pressure system for the breaks and suspension. There are two gauges for each air tank.

The front tank gauge works fine but it appears that the sensor for the rear gauge isn’t working but the tank and air bags fill and work fine. Fortunately, the air pressure alarm still switches off when the tanks are both full and the hand break safety lock releases just as it should when they are up to pressure though – which is the main thing.

I am a very approachable guy so if you were ever thinking of buying an American RV then this is the one, I honestly don’t think you will find a better one for the price.
