Fully Off-Grid Rustic Campervan LWB VW Crafter

Say hello to Big Phil! He has been our trusty tiny home on wheels and is now ready to take someone else on their adventures.
This conversion was inspired by the pine forests of Scotland and incorporates the warm, earthy tones of the forest wilderness with green features and reclaimed wood interior, Big Phil is a fully off-grid cabin in the woods.

Van base:
The base van was prepared by treating any rust and imperfections. This was followed by sound deadening and insulation which consists of dodo dead Matt, celotex and rockwocl insulation. This has very high thermal values and which are very effective in cold temperatures. The insulation is lined with reflective vapour barrier to avoid condensation build up. We have thermally lined blinds for all the windows to minimise any heat loss.

Kitchen:
Big Phil houses a large L-shaped kitchen with plenty of space for food preparation and ample storage for both long journeys, or weekend getaways. The kitchen appliances include an 80L Swan under-counter fridge with freezer compartment, Thetford Triplex oven and grill with three burner hob and glass splash back/hob cover, full-sized black stone resin sink with integrated waste system and flexible tap with hose head and alternating water flow. The storage includes drawers, overhead cupboards, shelving and a pull-out pantry perfect for tea, spices or canned foods.
Under the sink there is a 25L Jerry can for fresh drinking water as an addition to the integrated fresh water system. The kitchen also includes an outside fold-away table and vintage VW bottle opener.

Bathroom:
There is a full-height bathroom within the van with a door for privacy and a wet room inside. The wet room includes a bidet shower head for controllable water consumption, basket wall storage, towel hooks and the Nature’s Head Composting toilet with ventilation fan.

Bed:
The double fixed bed comes with a custom memory foam mattress and is slightly wider than a standard double. Beside the bed is a full wall of cupboard storage with shelving and a pull-out bedside table, all concealed with reclaimed wood handmade doors. At the base of the bed is a curtain with thermal lining for warmth in colder climates.
The fixed bed allows for generous under-bed storage, with hooks and space for all the adventure gear. This space would be suitable for a furry friend if necessary as there is access from the main living space.
Under the bed there is access to the integrated gas and water systems for maintenance. There is a gas safe locker and refillable tank which can be accessed from under the bed at the back door.

Seating:
By the bed is a bench seat than can sit 2-3 people. The handmade pull-out table comes to a metre in length and pulls out from under the bed. The bench seat houses both a storage ‘pantry’ box compartment in one side, but also the leisure battery electrical system for easy access maintenance.
Above the seating area is an extra over-head cupboard that houses the solar system and 12v fuse board.
