Peugeot Expert L1H1
Well loved converted medium van with 12 month MOT and full service history since conversion.
3 cab seats, 5 doors, 1.9L engine, CD player and radio, central locking and power steering.
Wood panelled sleeping area with double bed that converts into a sofa. You can’t stand up inside but when the bed’s folded up, it manages to feel quite spacious. The van has a decent leisure battery which powers internal lights, the water pump, fan and 12V charging sockets. Very effective diesel air heater keeps you toasty on colder nights. Beneath the sink is a 5L water tank and 5L effluent tank, plus tons of storage space.
Although it’s clocked up 189089 miles, the engine was replaced during the conversion at 160,000 miles with an 80,000 mile engine. Cam belt was done at the same time. I have all the paperwork on the conversion process.
Never had any problems with the van mechanically- it’s been an absolute joy to drive. There are a few minor issues, however:
-the driver’s window doesn’t work
-the speakers are a bit crunchy
-one of the rear light casings has smashed (it doesn’t affect the light’s function)
-one of the charging ports doesn’t work.
-there’s a knack to changing the bed into a sofa, which I will show you!
I will be gutted to say goodbye to Gladys the van, but I have moved to London and just don’t use it enough.
You’re very welcome to come see the van and give it a test drive.
I bought the van direct from the father and son who converted the van as a lockdown project (the dad was an experienced vehicle tinkerer!). They completely stripped the back out and fitted the hold area with bubble wrap, fibreglass insulation and a vapour barrier, all covered with 4 way stretch vehicle-interior carpet. The entire hold area (floors, doors and ceiling) are wood panelled with a curve between the doors and ceiling. This combined with the lovely nautical main light creates the feeling of being in a cosy ship’s cabin. I would frequently choose to sleep in the van rather than my own bed when at home because I loved the vibe so much!
The leisure battery charges when the ignition switches on and has lasted me 3 days in one location just fine. It is located behind the driver’s seat and powers the 3 interior lights, ceiling fan, water pump for the tap and 12V charging sockets. It also has one a diesel air heater, which is incredibly efficient and heats the relatively small space very effectively.
Double bed that stretches the width of the camper. Comfortable cushions and plenty of storage space for bedding. It folds up into a sofa for day and meal time use.
