Bodywork: Very clean throughout and in very good condition overall, with a few dings professionally removed in May 2025. Some plastic trims show some scratches, but nothing unusual. Reversing Camera with parking sensors & reversing warning sound.
Full professional lower half wrap (for style, but also stone chip protection), in a Copper Brown Matt finish to match the internal wooden features.
NO RUST, anywhere. And all the cuts & holes made were treated professionally, using Hammerite & anti-rust wax treatments 😉

The aim with ‘Leela’ was to create a van that could stand the proof of time & stay off grid for more than just a couple of days whilst travelling throughout the UK & Europe.
We didn’t install a cheap motorhome shower tray, we built our own. We didn’t go cheap on the battery, or the inverter, or even something as basic as the screws, glues or silicones used. The sink is a full size sink too, the water tanks are large, etc. etc.
There is a LOT of storage room in this van as well, and you’ll realise that storage is very often compromised. We cannot emphasize how important this is though, especially with kids or with the weather being so unpredictable (in the UK anyway!). Where are you going to store these rain coats or hiking boots..? 🙂
Finally, we chose materials because of their design & robustness, but also because of their light weight, to save on fuel etc. As all Mercs, the van drives superbly well (like a small hatchback in fact), and turns on a dime without the sound of wood squeaking & creaking. No expense was spared, yet we do not believe in over-pricing our conversions: Leela has been built slowly & with care.
SEATING
The Fold-up rock’n’roll bed seats 2 very comfortably and 2-3 more guests can seat around the table.
STORAGE
Bespoke & carpeted shelf over the cab. It is very strong (& lightweight) but also very spacious.
Shoe cupboard located behind the passenger/driver seats. Again, very spacious.

Leela sleeps four very comfortably, two in the rear Queen Size bed, and two in the custom built, M1 tested fold-up rock’n’roll bed (190cm long/135cm wide). This one is extremely easy to unfold within seconds, and is actually very comfortable. There is also ample storage beneath it for pillows, duvets etc. As the van comes with 5 seat belts, you could in theory add another ‘cab’ mattress & sleep a fifth person at the front of the vehicle if wanted.
