Conversion Description

Self-build, sleek modern design with quirky personal touches. Self designed winch up bed and all essential modern comforts.

(PROPER PHOTO’S INCOMING SOON!)

For sale is my newly converted 2016 VW Crafter with 96000 miles on the clock. This whopper sleeps 4, drives 3. You wont find another van on the market with an elevator bed like this.

This is my 5th and most refined conversion to date. Some of you may remember my previous van that was featured on Nate Murphy’s Youtube channel (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r6GM6Jg4vb0&t=634s). This beauty is the new and improved version and was intended to be my full time home and is therefore equipped to accommodate a lifestyle on the road. The build has taken me approximately 6 months part time and has caused nothing short of multiple aneurisms but im super satisfied with the way the project has turned out.

If you’re looking to bob around the UK on weekends, take an extended trip into Europe or even buying with a view to renting out (quoted at £110 per night by CampToo) then look no further!

After buying, building and living in the previous 4 vans, Ive finally arrived at a stage where I can say this van hits the spot on every front. I designed no. 5 to have all the modern comforts whilst maintaining an air of spaciousness – no overhanging cupboards down the length of the van to crack your noggin on, no massive looming shower room dominating the space (dont worry, there is a shower space but we’ll get to that later.), no noisy temperamental diesel heater pumping out fumes on start up, a myriad of locations to comfortably park your butt, dimmable light switches, space saving food jars and most importantly my self-designed ELEVATOR BED! Words fail to express the joy I feel every time I push the button that lowers my sleep-ready kingsize bed from the ceiling. None of the faff, farting around pulling cushions off, re positioning, making and unmaking the bed in an eternal nightmare of bedding day in day out! When you’re tired at the end of a long days drive, hiking or looking after the nippers, push a button and clock out – easy!

Variety being the spice of life, creating varied appetizing meals on the road is made possible by the inclusion of a gas oven with integrated dual ring burner. Plenty of room for your leftovers in the 60L 12v DC fridge.

Dont want that stale food smell? Turn on the 2 ceiling mounted fans to suck out any vaporised cooking juices.

While your foods cooking get cosy next to the log burning stove and watch the sun set from the comfort and warmth of your van.

Meeting up with other members of the extensive VanLife community? this van will seat a total of 11 people at a push including the drivers seat (no joke!). 6 people maybe more on the 2, 2 meter benches in the back, 2 on the bench seat next to the stove and 2 in the dual swivel seat at the front and 1 poor sod in the driver seat facing away from everyone else. Maybe it could be the time-out chair? If your mates have a couple too many and need a place to crash then the cushion seats can pull together to form an additional kingsize bed, or can be left as 2 smaller single beds below the winch up bed. The winch up bed is held up by 4 steel cables rated to 1 ton each and they are held by a motorized car winch mounted on the roof capable of withstanding a load of 5 tons.

HEAPS of storage. As mentioned the back benches are 2 meters long each. One of them houses the electrical components but still sparing ample storage, the other large enough to accommodate ski’s, snowboards, inflatable kayaks, skateboards, power kites or surfboards under 2 meters if you’re some sort of maverick surfer. 4 deep drawers ,2 cutlery drawers, 2 overhead storage cabinets, 1 flip down cupboard and a huge curved cupboard in the kitchen area. There’s 1 further pull-out toilet drawer and the shower box doubles up as a huge storage compartment for bedding or whatever else you may wanna shove in there.

The whopping 210AH AGM battery is powered by an equally large 550 watt dual-sided LG solar panel. The idea being that light reflected from the van onto the underside of the panel generates an additional 150w. The power then runs to a Renogy controller that distributes the power to a 2000w inverter (for all appliances) and also the fuse panel for all the 12v goodies. There’s an external switch mounted in the wall that allows you to turn on the AC power (4 plug sockets & 4 usb charge points).

Collapsible shower: Under the seat next to the burner is a fully waterproofed and sealed shower box. On the ceiling above it there’s a shower rail that runs around the overhead fan. When you want to shower, simply clip the shower bag to the rail as well as the curtain and voila! I didn’t bother with a permanent shower as in the last van i mostly washed in rivers and lakes. I got sick of having to refill my water tank so often as even a 5 minute shower would use A LOT of water!

Underslung 75L water tank and quiet electric pump.

Ton of extras inc. side ladder, raptor liner paint, bonnet bra and visor, side opening window.

As you can see there is not a single piece of stretchy carpet in sight. I CANNOT STAND the all grey carpet caves that get churned out by the dozen and even though its been a stern lesson in patience, the overall aesthetic of the van has benefitted massively from the banishment.

The van was a fedex van, then had a second owner who needed it to transport his jet ski before realising it was too big for his needs and selling it to me. Ive got the history from the previous owner but nothing before hand though ive had no issues since owning it. Its due a service and a new MOT since ive been away the last 6 months but these will be taken care of pre-sale.

Listing with a few days of work left to carry out in preparation for sale. Needs the curved cupboard completing and the sliding door arch to be sealed, caulking, cleaning, final paint, MOT, service and she’s all yours!

Im open to offers and sensible questions, but PLEASE – no time wasters. Only come to view if you have the cash to buy at the agreed price. Id rather not facilitate free van tours or answer questions that ive already outlined the answers to!

Many thanks,

Callum
