This is Midge, our late 2019 VW T28 Highline Camper. Professional, very high end conversion, originally from Direct Campers in Kilmarnock, with a Star Wars twist. We bought her in late 2021 for £50k+ as a brand new conversion with 12k on the clock and she’s now sitting at 36k – we’ve barely used her in the past couple of years we’ve had her, mostly because it used to be just the two of us but now we have a one year old and three dogs and just need something bigger. She’s done the NC500 a couple of times, and we did plenty of long and shorter trips prior to our daughter being born, but it’s time for something a little bigger.

It’s a pop-top, 4 berth with 5 belted seats. Front two passenger seats rotate, and there’s a table that sits on the rail at the side storage. Rock and roll bed comfortably sleeps 2 (I’m nearly 6 foot and my husband is 6’4”, but we always slept really well in it). Dometic Fridge/Freezer, sink and two-ring gas hob. Tap with electric pump, push-in LEDs on the ceiling, under unit lights at side and floor level. Gas heater. Loads of usb charging points and an absolute tonne of storage – we’ve been away for weeks at a time in it and had plenty of space.

Since we bought her, we’ve had a solar panel and charger fitted, and had the grill replaced with a microwave – which is completely brilliant when on site. We also had a custom Starbird decal (If you know your Star Wars you’ll recognise this) added to the side in 2022, and accent colouring added to the VW badges, front grill and wing mirrors.
