Volkswagen Transporter 1000 TD SWB
We have owned Nelly for 10 years and it’s with a heavy heart that we have finally decided to put her up for sale as we don’t get to use her like we used to. Nelly is a 1998 VW T4 who started life as Coca-Cola van so is equipped with all the extras such as electric windows and mirrors and a heated rear window. In our ownership she has been lovingly converted to a campervan and used as a daily driver with frequent trips exploring the country. Over the years many parts have been replaced as required and no expense spared. In 2019 the original 1.9td engine reached the end of its life so we had it professionally replaced with a 1.9tdi engine and all the belts, fluids and clocks renewed and the ECU remapped to 120bhp which means she keeps up with traffic. at the same time the gearbox oil was changed and a higher ratio 5th gear installed to help with fuel economy, and In 2021 the steering rack was replaced. Nelly still wears her original paintwork that is looking a little tired but very honest. this year she’s had new inner and outer front arches so is a very solid vehicle for her age. As with all vehicles this age there are inevitably things that need attention such as a slight leak to the sunroof, the need to replace the rear wiper motor and probably a few other small weekend jobs. She has factory central locking that is a little hit and miss but will come with a new remote locking kit for the new owner to fit along with a multitude of spare parts collected over the years. Currently the van has 7 months MOT
Nelly has been lovingly converted over the last 10 years with lots of unique quirky features such as the hardwood ceiling and upcycled 1950s solid wood kitchen unit with ample storage. she is fully insulated and fitted with a split charge leisure battery system and fusebox controlling the lights, fairy lights, USB sockets and power supply for a fridge. There’s a solar charge controller and portable panel for keeping the battery topped up. The water system runs from a whale foot pump to a vintage restored tap. the bed pulls out from the driver’s side to sleep two it has two handmade wheeled storage boxes underneath, a box for a cooker with a cutlery drawer (cooker not included) and on the end a space for a portable toilet with room behind for camping chairs etc
