A new build from Van Life Creations Ltd. This van has been built to be a fully off-grid adventure ready van. We took all of our experience building vans and came up with our dream specification and layout. Lot’s of space for adventure gear, a huge electrical system, sleeping (and belted seats) for 4, topped off with a high end, practical and clean aesthetic.

The details:

Electrics:
The goal of this build was to create a fully-off grid gas free build, allowing you to cook off-grid without LPG/Diesel. The water heater is also electric and can be run off 12v or 240v. All electrics are powered by Victron Energy and is a full Victron system (not odd components).

If you’re not familiar with Victron components, you have a large 3000w inverter allowing you to use mains appliances off-grid (with a built in mains charger, 200ah Lithium ion batteries, a DCDC charger (to charge the battery whilst on the move), 500w solar panels plus a 50amp charger, and the Touch 50 5″ touch screen to monitor and control all of your electronic components. You can also monitor the water tank level from the touch screen.

Kitchen:
The Kitchen is a galley style, with one side housing a sink with hot and cold water, with lots of storage for pots and pans, and a Thetford Portapotti 145. The other side of the kitchen has 3 drawers and a cupboard with shelves. Above each kitchen unit are 2 large overhead cupboards.

Cabinetry and storage:
All cabinetry has been machine cut and laminated with HPL laminate (Not to be confused with lesser quality furniture board/melamine). All cabinets are made with 12mm poplar (lightweight) plywood. All doors/drawers have slam latches on providing a good looking and practical way to keep door shut whilst the vehicle is moving.
There is also a large garage area with additional cupboard space and ample floor space fitted with L track, enabling you to attach all your outdoor gear and bicycle mounts to transport at least 2 bikes plus additional gear. The van is also kitted out with L track along the top edges and along the sides at waist height. This gives you endless storage options being able to bungee or strap a wide range of things easily to walls and secure luggage during transport. All furniture is skilfully designed and manufactured, there are no quirky mis-fitting doors and questionable storage solutions. This is a professional conversion and that is reflected in the practicality of the van.

Water system:
70L fresh water tank underslung with water level indicator on touch screen (reads percentage of tank) (External fill point)
52L waste water tank (underslung)
Thetford sink with hot/cold water
6L calorifier (water heater) with thermostatic mixing valve (12v/240v)
Bullfinch external shower point on side of van with hot/cold water

Ventilation, heating and Insulation:

Ventilation is provided by a Maxxair Maxxfan 350 to the front of the ceiling. There are 2 sliding windows both on the offside of the vehicle providing additional ventilation
The whole van is sound deadened and insulated with a sandwich of 10mm closed cell from foil insulation, plus 2 layers of Dacron 35mm insulation plus vapour barrier. Keeping the van warm in the winter and cool in the summer.
An Autoterm 4kw Diesel heater is situated under the passenger seat of the van and is more than enough to keep the van warm on any winters night. It is plumbed into the vehicle diesel tank and will cut out when fuel level gets low (so you don’t need to worry about running out of fuel). It also uses a minimal amount of fuel.

Sleeping:
The mattress is a 5″ firm memory foam custom sized mattress. The base is slatted allowing good ventilation throughout.
The second bed is the RIB Altair fold out bed. We find this to be the best bed of its type on the market both in seating and sleeping.
