We’ve travelled to all the beautiful park-ups and festivals through winter, spring and summer living in her for weeks at a time. She was lived in for 2 years full time by her previous owners. Amazing live-in, rent out, or festival vehicle. We’re off to travel abroad and this is not the vehicle for that so we’re selling to downsize. She will be sorely missed!
What can I say about Big Rubes (Renamed from Phat Bollard!). Brilliant at events and festivals but also just looking fabulous by the sea 🙂
A real head turner, everyone who sees it falls in love with the interior. Previously refitted by project_van_rambo. On Instagram, look in the Phat Bollard folder for more pics. project_van_rambo is an amazing artist builder of live-in vans and this was one of her originals.
Boasting an absolutely enormous wood burner. You will never be cold in the winter, its a BEAUT of a woodburner (backup source of heating is a diesel heater but, to be honest we haven’t used it often).
Really well insulated with a huge side barn door that opens up. This never gets hot in the summer either.
This is by far the best temperature controlled van we’ve been in!
The entire van is made out of upcycled and recycled materials as per project_van_rambo’s branding. Everything is well thought through, lightweight but looks amazing.
12 volt compressor fridge that plugs into the USB has now been running for 6 months and goes down to -20. its a freezer if needed.
When I drive it can be moved out of the interior and put in the front to run on the 12v cigarette port
Hot water shower system which runs on a separate smaller gas bottle. Boiler has a fault on the inlet pipe that we are booking it in to have fixed – price adjusted for this as we are currently pretty rural so harder to get a timely repair. Easy fix but if it concerns you we can get the work done and add the cost.. Shurflo water pump so good pressure shower.
Tanked wet room.
70l fiamma tank underslung with tap attached to the tank (no tap inside the van – we preferred the outside tap and use the shower or gas hob for hot water inside if needed)
200w solar panels. Runs into a Victron smart solar MPPT that you can monitor from your phone..
Two huge 140 ah varta leisure batteries
500 watt Victron inverter
Kampa twin oven, been in regular use, easy to cook real meals on the road 🙂 Large gas bottle securely stored in porch (usually lasts a year)
Wall mounted TV.
Lovely barn door for sea breezes and great views.
This van is by no means gonna win any races. It is slow!

For those seeking full-time off grid living, this is your van!
Has been weighed full of stuff and just came up to the limit. This is with full time living in mind so lots of not so essential belongings!
I don’t think this is necessarily a touring van because it is heavy and it is slow, but each to their own, it would happily trundle around the roads if that doesn’t bother you. We moved from place to place and have driven across the country but factor in a slower pace of life 🙂
There is no mains or split charge relay. This is an off grid van.
Has been lived in full-time by the two previous owners and used by the band Phat Bollard before that – it’s a happy vehicle with a great history. There is some normal, minor wear and tear from being lived in but, because of it’s rustic style, there’s nothing that sticks out and the van has aged really well.
For someone looking to live the off-grid lifestyle this is 100% the van to do it in!!
Will be taking a deposit and no time wasters please.
The van has been emptied of personal belongings and is ready to go on new adventures 🙂
