Peugeot Boxer L2H2 335 pro
Selling “Charlie” my off grid Peugeot Boxer Campervan conversion. Having moved to the countryside I’ve found myself using it far less these days, so it’s time for someone else to get enjoyment from it!
We’ve taken Charlie to the beach, forests, the centre of London, weddings, and an epic roadtrip around France, Switzerland and Italy. We can confidently say it’s fully off grid. It’s also well insulated, having been well tested in the alps! I’d say the van is perfect as a weekend warrior to get off the beaten track, or (if you’re comfortable with the cosy size) for longer trips. The mixed energy setup means we never fell short, and found the limiting factor (before needing to head back to civilisation) was the 50 litre water tank – enough maybe for 2 people over 3 days depending on how much you shower.
The van
– L2H2 Peugeot Boxer 2.0 HDI, 5.4m long so small enough to fit in a standard parking space, but large enough to fit everything you need for an adventure
– Has air-con, cruise control, satnav, DAB radio, electric windows, electric mirrors etc. Alloy wheels & off road tyres. Large roof rack
– Reversing camera
– Euro 6, ULEZ compliant
– 92k. Service history. Last serviced in July. Timing belt has been changed recently, saving the new owner a hefty future bill
– Fresh MOT passed on 9th November
The conversion
We’ve NEVER used a camping site with this setup thanks to the mixed energy setup:
– 200w solar
– AGM 120ah battery
– 230v 3kw inverter
– Renogy 40a DC to DC battery charger
– Mains hook up
– 5kw diesel heater (fuelled from a 10L diesel tank)
– Truma 230v air blown water heater (heats the water via the inverter. Simply switch the inverter on when driving somewhere and let the alternator provide free hot water)
– 50L water tank & water pump
– Shower
– Portable toilet
– 12v fridge
– LPG single burner hob. We’ll sell the van with a Flogas cylinder and a gas barbeque, giving you everything you need to dine al fresco if you’d prefer to cook outdoors.
– Black out blinds or curtains throughout. Even in the darkest spots the light from inside the van doesn’t escape, making it a real stealth camper
– All 3 seats swivel round (captains chairs)
– Plenty of LED lighting and usb charge points
– Fully sound deadened and insulated
– Boot has bike hookup points and is large enough for two full size bikes
Included in the sale: (almost) everything you need to start your adventures
– Gas barbeque and Flogas cylinder
– Stoplock pro steering wheel lock
– Campervan hookup cable (if you want to use a campsite with mains)
– European driving kit (everything you need to drive on the continent)
– Snow chains
– Elsan organic toilet fluid (a more environmentally friendly alternative to blue liquid)
– Puriclean water purifier (to clean the tank periodically)
– Kitchen items included if you want them – plates, kettle, cutlery, bowls etc. Everything you need
– Collapsible water container and universal hose and connectors – providing you with two ways to fill the water tank
The “bad” points
– Being an L2H2 it isn’t for really tall people (I think 6″2 is max without bending)
– Some people don’t like the 2.0HDI engine due to lack of acceleration vs. larger engines. I never found that an issue though, and it’ll happily sit at 70mph all day long
– Off road tyres + roof rack = 3m high! Not great for height restricted car parks
– The underslung grey water tank was never fitted, but comes with the van if you’d like. We never felt the need to fit it, and used biodegradable soap to avoid any issues of the shower draining directly to the ground
– The rear discs and brake pads will need replacing in the next 1-2 years. I have new pads, which will be included in the sale.
– The extractor fans on the ceiling don’t have safety mesh as they needed to be removed to fix the cranking mechanism. I never use the fans thoughβ¦.not sure they’re really needed in a van this size!
Conversion was undertaken by the previous owner, who had converted campervans before, and is a electrician by trade.
