Detailed Information
Vehicle Description

Remy is a 2012 Citroen Relay L3H2 2.2 with 142,873 miles on the clock. The van is n great mechanical order, with no issues to speak of. It’s just had a full service and comes with 12 months MOT which it passed without any advisories. We have kept a full service history since owning it and have some service history from the previous owners. We’ve always serviced the van regularly and attended to any mechanical issues quickly. New tyres were put on at 128k and show very little signs of wear and a new clutch was installed last year at about 135k. The bodywork is not perfect, but he is overall a pretty clean looking van with no major problems with regard to rust or paint.

Conversion Description

Remy is a totally off-grid campervan with a fresh modern and homely interior, designed for adventures of any length, anywhere. With more storage than you could ever possibly fill, a beastly electrics system and a huge water supply, you could easily go off into the most remote corners of the world and not see civilisation for a week – if you fancied it!

Designed and built by a couple with product design and architectural backgrounds, this van has been built to the highest standards of quality and precision, with so many thoughtful details to make everything as easy as possible. We spent 7 months pouring everything we had into this conversion, and the level of care is reflected in the quality of the finished product.

Remy has been fitted with many technological luxuries, with an inverter for mains electricity, lots of USB sockets in handy places, and a big battery bank and loads of solar power to keep it topped up. The van also has everything you’d need to work on the road, with a 4G internet router plus a signal-boosting antenna on the roof.

The kitchen is finished in beautiful birch ply, with chunky 24mm for the worktops, 18mm for the table and 9mm for the cupboard doors. It has an almost unbelievable amount of storage (to the extent that, having now moved into a flat, we’ve actually downsized on storage space!), with a mixture of drawers, overhead and under-counter cupboards, and a pull-out pantry, so you can organise your things however suits you best. There is also a two-ring gas hob with spice rack conveniently situated above, a magnetic knife rack, a dish-drying rack, storage baskets for fruit and veg/houseplants, two clips for chopping boards, and a 50l fridge with a freezer compartment.

One of our favourite features in Remy is the access to the cab, which is so handy when you wake up in the morning and want to drive off without stepping outside into rain or mud. And to really maximise the space, we’ve created a unique flip-up worktop which locks into place to provide an extra kitchen surface.

The living area seats three, with room for a fourth if an extra stool is provided. There is a large table which slides out from under the bed to whatever length is required, and it can be pulled all the way out and placed between the bench seats to form an extra single bed. The control panel above the table provides easy access to charging points, heating controls, and lights. There is also access to the huge garage space through the double doors in the partition wall.

The fixed bed provides ultimate comfort, with no faff rearranging cushions or tables in the evenings. The partition wall creates a cosy sense of enclosure in the bedroom, which can also be used as a separate comfy reading/TV watching area. The solar panels on the roof provide a layer of sound protection against rain. A small sliding window at the head of the bed allows you to peek out at your surroundings when you wake up or let in a cool breeze on summer nights, and the little windowsill is perfect for a mug of tea.

The shower is attached to the inside of the back doors and there’s a shower curtain which creates a spacious and totally private cubicle for showering. With the shower being outdoors, you’ll never need to worry about damp or mould inside the van. It runs on gas from the underslung tank, meaning you don’t have to wait for it to heat up, and you can adjust the temperature to your needs.

The two windows are positioned on the same side to create a stealthy look from the other side, especially when the blackout curtain is drawn across the cab access. This approach must have worked well, as we’ve driven all over Europe and not once had a knock at the door or been asked to move on!
