Meet ‘Ruby’ – a beautiful Danbury conversion with low mileage, ready for her next home.
Ruby is a beautiful air-cooled classic VW, a real head turner! We bought Ruby in 2019 from her previous owner to use as a family camper. She has been completely reliable and has passed MOTs first time, every time.
With our eldest now a teenager and less enamoured with sleeping up in the roof with her brother, it is time for Ruby to be loved by a new home. Her condition is such that she could easily be used for rentals, proms, weddings etc.
Ruby has a 1.6L air-cooled engine, providing the very familiar sound associated with the old Beetles. It features modern safety and mechanical updates while keeping its nostalgic look.
Inside, Danbury’s conversion offers a clever and cozy layout, including a rock-and-roll bed, compact kitchen with fridge, sink and hob and grill, storage units and a pop-top roof for extra headroom or sleeping space. Designed for weekend trips or longer getaways, it mixes vintage appeal with basic modern comforts, including USB ports.
This Danbury also benefits from some additional extras such as a Webasto Petrol Heater to provide warmth on those colder days away. Ruby is ready for adventure, however could also be considered as a small project as she does have some small areas of rust, which is reflected in the price.

I am pricing her to sell, I bought her for considerably more than this but there are small spots of surface rust on her now, so I have reflected that in the price. She is absolute bargain for a custom camper of this quality, others up for sale for £30k.

She has passed her MOT first time, every time and has a full 12mth MOT for June 2026.
