Unfortunately i’m having to sell my beloved camper van/paddle wagon/bike bus. Me and my partner have decided to be adults and buy our first home and in the excitement I didn’t realise the total lack of parking available for my van so I’m having to downsize.
I’ve owned the van around 2 years now, bought it in June 2022 with 49k miles on the clock and is now sitting at 70k miles (will increase slightly). The conversion was undertaken by myself (Electrician by trade) and my Dad (Joiner by trade) and the van went from a basic panel van to what it is now! I have photos of the process which I am more than happy to share. A lot of time was taken during the conversion and the van was built around my sports (kayaking and mountain biking), all panels have been sound deadened, the van has been fully insulated with insulation boards, minicell foam and recycled “wool” insulation being used.
Plenty of storage space is available throughout the back as you can see from the photos. All cabinets were custom made to fit the van and the flooring is hard wearing LVT. The rear seats have hidden access to the back “garage” and the Portapotti. The great thing about these vans is how wide they are, the bed is a small double with a Simba mattress fitted east-west meaning they is a little bit extra floorspace to play with and I have designed the bed platform around bike storage. In the garage space the top sliders are mounted to a removable panel which allows 2 (maybe 3) medium/large frame bikes to be stored underneath between the drawers. The main thing I wanted out of this van was somewhere warm and comfortable to relax after a day on the river/in the hills so made sure to install a diesel heater. I opted for a Lavaner Pro 2kw unit and it’s been fantastic! It’s been plumbed into the main tank using the official Erberspacher kit for the Boxer/Relay/Ducatos, so no daft little separate takes to deal with. Two ducts allow heating of the living space and the “garage” making for a great place to dry/warm clothing and equipment aswell as yourself!
The electrical system is primarily split charge but is also supplemented with a 120w solar panel, I’ve been on a few 10day trips and the battery never went below 60% even after 2/3days of not moving the van so plenty of capacity. I opted for a 130Ah calcium battery as a temporary solution but like all good temp solutions it became permanent! 6x 12v downlights provide the main lighting within the van with a 12v led strip mounted over the worktop for extra lighting and 12v strips at the top and bottom of the bed as reading lights in the evening. I also made sure to provide some lighting in the garage space with 4x downlights mounted under the bed platform so you can see what you’re doing in the dark!
Some of the other bits and pieces of note include:
Rogue Alloys with General Grabber AT tyres,
Sanderson dual leaf rear springs,
Wheeliams bonnet light mounts (not shown ready to be fitted),
Direct4x4 2x2mtr Awning,
Air Conditioning,
I’m genuinely sad to see it go, but I hope someone else can enjoy wore Vannah as much as we have! Any questions please feel free to ask and I’ve got plenty of photos of the conversion process and plenty more that I couldn’t add to the listing.
Simba small double mattress fitted east to west on a solid bed platform mounted directly to the main supporting structure of the vehicle, plenty of ventilation holes along the platform allow the mattress to breath and the bed platform has been installed at a height to allow bikes to be stored in the “garage” space below!
The contact details for this vehicle are no longer available because it has either sold or the listing has expired.
