Meet Silver Birch!
A brand new conversion lovingly created by Hedgerow Campers.
As with all of our vans we’ve taken real inspiration from nature’s colour pallet. In this build we’ve used the colours the wonderful Silver Birch tree has, from the deep rich green leaves to the silvery bark.
We’re so please with this build and I’m sure you will love her just as much as we do!
Fully insulated with a mix of closed cell insulation boards, recycled plastic bottle insulation and vapour barrier throughout. We know all to well the importance of properly insulating your van and Silver Birch will keep you cool in the summer and cosy in the winter. No need to keep your adventure’s for the summer months only!
Decorated in a mix of natural tones and materials, rich green paint and silver/white this is truly a head turner of a conversion.
As you slide open the door you are greeted with the two comfy bench seats. Ample storage below with the larger of the two also housing the Thetford Ports Potti 165. Chunky cushions providing comfort and accentuated with scatter cushions.
For dining we have mounted a swivel table base giving plenty of position options. The top made from reclaimed parquet flooring in a gorgeous rich oak finish.
Next we have the kitchen and oh what a kitchen she has!
Created from a host of reclaimed materials, the best has to be the doors and drawers taken from a Victorian sideboard.
Nestled below the drawers and between the cupboards is the JFK 50 12v compressor fridge with freezer section. Plenty of space to store all your drinks and snacks without drawing too much power from the leisure battery.
On top we have more of the parquet flooring for the worktop finished with decorative strip wood and again all with a rich oak finish.
Sitting pride of place on the worktop is the reclaimed French copper pot transformed into a very special sink and paired with a chunky industrial style tap.
Your water is housed below and connected to the tap with a whale 12v submersible pump. There is also a flow limiter on the front of the kitchen allowing you to control the speed at which the water comes from the tap. 20L of fresh water and a 10L grey water capacity.
As we move along the counter you can’t help notice the unusual splash back made from aged copper effect ceramic tiles and again finished with decorative trim.
Next we have the black glass 2 burner gas hob. Connected to a 6kg propane gas tank situated in the garage area. The gas has been fully signed off and meets current safety regulations.
Above the kitchen we have a wonderful open storage area allowing ease of access when cooking. Again this is created from a wonderful carved piece of antique furniture.
The entire kitchen has been painted using Rustoleum Kitchen Cupboard paint in none other than Bare Birch!
Between the seating and kitchen area you will find the electrics panel. Recessed and covered with some beautiful silver tree wallpaper and framed with pallet wood, we’ve made a real feature of this area.
Here you will find your battery monitor, 2 double 12v USB sockets, the inverter switch and 240v double plug socket in brushed copper.
Above we have the cut through to the cab and at the very top a large open storage area. All framed in pallet wood.
If we continue our journey round the build we come to the section dividing the kitchen and the bed.
We wanted to make good use of this space so from the bottom up we have a tall thin cupboard area with a lovely custom door framed in rich green with a rattan back and a rope knot handle. This section cleverly hides a lot of the wiring and pipe work.
Next there is a recessed section with 3 switches that are connected to the lights.
On top there is a large box section accessible from the kitchen side giving a massive amount of space for all those oils and vinegars.
Topped off with a small counter made with reclaimed parquet flooring to match the table and worktop.
Seeming to burst straight through the van from the counter to the ceiling we’ve added a truly stunning feature with some drift wood and artificial Birch leaves. It’s not every Campervan that has it’s own tree growing through the middle!
After a long day exploring you’ll be able to rest well in the bed in Birch.
A small double in width but with length enough to sleep comfortably even for those taller people with length of 6’3” with the box in sections.
A brand new comfy memory foam mattress providing all the support.
At each end of the bed we’ve built boxed in sections. Inside they are finished with luxurious wallpaper in a silver tree design. Framed with pallet wood and fitted with led strip lights giving real drama.
Above the head of the bed there are two dimmable reading lights mounted on the wall and at the foot of the bed there is a double overhead cupboard finished with reclaimed pallet wood.
You’ll never get tired of lying in bed and gazing up at the chevron pallet wood ceiling!
Below the bed there is storage accessible from inside the living area in two huge antique drawers with wonderful vintage glass handles.
Beside those there sits the 240v double plug socket for use on hook up and the diesel heater outlet.
In the garage are you will find the services neatly installed and loads of storage.
To the left is the 2kw Maxxpeedingrods diesel heater which is boxed in. The gas safety locker sits in the middle. Fully secured and fitted with a dropout vent and crash safe regulator.
To the right we have the brains of the van in the electrical system. Connected to the internal components of the van and charged with the solar set up mounted to the roof, whilst driving the van or when on hook up.

Ventilation comes from the Maxxfan Deluxe. Positioned in the main living area the fan has a whole host of functions and different speeds including air out which acts as excellent extraction when cooking.
Silver Birch comes with some extra special decorative items such as the Birch lithograph print from 1894, the soft furnishings, the enamel mugs and the beautiful vintage copper Birch leaf keyring with stunning patina.
