Conversion Description

FULLY off-grid, stylish and contemporary. You can go anywhere in style and comfort seizing any opportunity for adventure.

The interior is laid out to give you space to unwind when the elements have other ideas.

The ceiling is made up of a Scandinavian inspired acoustic style slated roof, bringing the natural charm and warmth of wood to the indoors. The slatted nature of the roof also creates a large floor to ceiling ratio making the space feel larger inside.

The flooring was installed as one whole piece before the rest of the internals were constructed, this created one waterproof membrane on the entire floor, helping prevent damp and easing cleaning when you perhaps bring the elements inside with you.

At the rear of the van sits a ¾ bed (Side to side), perfect for day time napping or relaxing, which pulls out in the evening into a full king-sized bed (Back to front). When stowed away this reveals the L shaped seating area with a fully adjustable table mount, making for easy storage or adjustment when different configurations are required.

The flat front kitchen units (Also known as slab doors) are accented with a warm grey colour, allowing them to match almost any colour you wish to adorn Slyvie with. The pros of having slab doors are there are no easier cabinet styles to clean, which is perfect when more time is to be spent exploring that maintaining your beloved van.
As a couple, we absolutely LOVE cooking, with space at a virtue Slyvie has a Thetford Duplex oven and grill made of easy to clean stainless steel oven and SIA 2 burner Black glass Hob with enamel stands. These both run off our LPG. The placement of our oven and hob allow for two methods of smoke extraction, either the forced air MaxX air fan or the open door, with the best cooking spot in the house, looking out over where your adventure takes place.

The passion for good food was accentuated throughout the kitchen with our 40mm thick oiled oak work tops, plenty deep enough for food preparation or just messy cooks. The worktops really create a striking centrepiece for the kitchen, with the wide staves really showcasing the beauty of solid natural wood. On the opposite side to the oven and grill sits our extra-large Belfast sink with a chrome up and over pull-down tap, creating yet another striking cornerstone in your kitchen.

Next to our sink is a fully enclosed shower, adorned with discrete chrome valve taps and an extra-large shower head. The shower is separated by the rest of the van with a tambour door, perfect for a little privacy when showering. The marble effect fully sealed PVC wall gives you peace of mind showering coupled with a slight luxury feel to it. For a bit of fun we fitted the shower with 12V multi coloured LED lights to give the falling water a spectacular visual effect. The showers steam is extracted via the same MaxX air fan used for cooking.
The beauty of the MaxX air fan is that on the hot days in the summer, the fan direction is changeable by the simple push of a button, thus allowing the van to force airflow through the van and out the rear window, keeping any elements at bay with its weatherproof hood.

The shower and tap are supplied via 15mm push fit pipe with minimal connections to reduce any chance of leaks, the water is stored in a 200L wheel arch tank lasting upwards of a week and seamlessly blended into the worktop counter space. The Fiamma water pumps and Seaflo A20 expansion tank ensure there is sufficient water flow throughout the entire system and gives you a luxury shower experience compared to other campers. (DISCLAIMER: I do recommend only filling the tank once you are at location if possible, as 200KG is a lot of extra unnecessary weight)

The Hot water is provided via our Truma 10L water boiler, which is mains compatible and gas compatible. So when connected to shore power you can use solely mains, or use both for ultra-fast hot water. The Heater takes about 10 – 20 minutes to warm up your water, but once warm you have a long lasting supply of hot water for the van, this can then be switched off if you are leaving the van for a prolonged period.

SHORE POWER – Yup, as if this van wasn’t packed with enough features, there is an external hook up for mains power which will charge your battery via a CTEK battery charger. This will allow you to spoil yourself indoors if you were at a campsite for example, without the worry of having to be frugal with your usage. We used this hook-up a lot when building the camper as we relied on very regular use of a lot of power tools through the inverter, which at 2000W was no problem for the beefy inverter.

Our gas system is an LPG Shop 40L Gas tank, refillable from a lot of petrol stations and third party vendors. It cost ABOUT £20 to fill completely and last around 2 weeks of pretty intense usage, perfect for long, uninterrupted getaways.

The Gas also powers our onboard Propex heatsource, instantly getting the campervan up to temperature on those frosty mornings, or if you’re like us, left on over night to keep your home on wheels nice and cosy. It isn’t hard to keep the van warm either with our over the top insulation, We used a combination of rigid foam boards and loft insulation to ensure every orifice of the van was well wrapped up.

Sylvie piggy backs around (On her roof) 4x 100Watt solar panels connected in series which provide charge for her MAMMOTH 26Ah Leisure battery. The battery is charge via means of a CTEK 250 which charges the Leisure battery AND the started battery. The Battery power lasts around 4 days of intense usage, and up to 10 days if you are careful. How ever if there is a slight bit of sun i.e the sun does come out then the solar panels are sufficient to power you through endlessly.

Equipped with numerous USB plugs, Bedside and on the kitchen counter. There are also numerous 240V plugs which are powered by means of an inverter. This gives complete freedom to use the van in any way you desire when out in the middle of nowhere.

The van is lit up with central spotlights down the middle with the addition of under counter downlights with LED strips. Both lights together give different light intensity’s and tones perfect for your comfort at night. Also, the light switches are two way, no more getting out of bed to turn those lights off you left on!

Slyvie offers ample storage, with the garage giving sufficient space for bikes (With front wheel detached) as well as any and all bags you wish to carry around.

As with any campervan, a necessary accompaniment is PLENTY of storage inside too. In this conversion not only is there numerous drawers for all your crockery, clothes and utensils but there are built in racks for bottles and jars, there is overhead storage above the cab and under seat storage with the bench seat being completely hollow and unused. The Piano Hinged top allows for maximum access to space.

An area which we feel is largely neglected when converting campervans is the driving area, because driving to your next destination should be just as enjoyable as being there. Its part of the journey. This is why we have fitted a state of the arts entertainment system with integrated offline maps, Spotify, YouTube, android auto and plenty more with google play. To take the responsibility away from reversing, this van has also been equipped with a reversing camera, to avoid any near misses!
