VW T6 Transporter campervan conversion. Based on a 2017 Highline short wheel base Transporter, the camper is in excellent condition and its 2.0TDi engine has covered 38,000 miles since new. Driven via a 5-speed manual gearbox, the 102bhp is plenty enough to power the campervan down the road. The Highline spec is ever popular and provides a great list of extras as standard from Volkswagen.
The van has been professionally converted by Merseyspeed and is a showcase of their skills.
The exterior of the vehicle is finished in grey metallic, with uprated suspension and 20“ low profile alloy wheels. The range topping Reimo pop-top roof includes a scenic canvas meaning it can be completely opened for summer evenings watching the sunset and the stars whilst sitting in the camper. A great touch and all important when looking for a real special campervan like this one.
As we enter the cab area, the first things which catch your eye are the burnt orange leather seats leather in ‘2+1’ format, there is plenty of room for three to travel in comfort in this area. The drivers seat has its own folding armrest for additional comfort. The passenger seat includes a storage locker. It also rotates to make a comfy rear lounge when stationary.
The uprated touchscreen Pioneer console has DAB radio, Bluetooth connectivity for hands free calls and Apple Car Play linking to an awesome sound system. It also projects the rear view from the tailgate camera when reversing.
There are electric heated mirrors and electric windows as well as automatic wipers and parking sensors to aid the driver, with cruise control also on hand when required.
As we enter through the sliding door, we have the habitation area which is professionally and thoroughly insulated throughout. The hardwearing and practical blond oak floor and pale grey units add a counterpoint to the burnt orange rear seat.
A hand made precision cut kitchen has been meticulously fitted and is a great credit to the camper. Housed within the units is the compact Dometic CRx 50 12v refrigerator with optional freezer compartment and a Dometic sink/gas-burner (two ring) hob unit within the black sparkle worktop above. Adjacent to the sink is the a liftable worktop which houses the safety approved gas bottle storage. Integrated into the wall above are the controls for the Planar diesel heater situated beneath the driver’s seat installed to keep you warm on chilly nights. All electrics, including leisure battery operation and charging are managed by a Sargent control panel. There is a 240 volt socket and in the adjacent niche double USB points for keeping your tablet / mobile topped up. Additional rear speakers ensure you get surround sound.
The whole area is lit up via zonal LED lights together with a dimmable light strip over the kitchen area.
The smart and effective silver tambor doors are a great space saver and allow easy access to the cupboard below as well as the wardrobe unit. The foldaway dining table tucks nicely away behind the drivers seat when not in use. To the rear, those orange leather seats hide the Reimo bed which flips into place providing a soft level mattress with adjustable back for lounging as well as sleeping . The M1 crash-tested bed also has two 3-point seatbelts for travelling. Below the bed is copious space for storage of bedding, clothes and those other camping essentials. Overhead, within the Reimo pop-top roof is a further sleeping area, raised up easily with gas-struts and finished in pale grey to provide additional light to the area. All rear windows are of smoked glass and have slide curtains to provide even greater privacy. A fantastic finishing touch to the interior of this very special camper.
To the rear, the tailgate door allows access to the rear storage areas and a boot space suitable for stowing yet more gear. The door itself has built in illumination for finding things easily at night.
And if you need extra space the van has an awning rail to attach the supplied Vango Noosa low profile tent. With this versatile attachment you can spread out /sleep out and drive your van away.
