VW Transporter 6.1 Highline TDI 2.8
2.0 litre engine. 5 speed. Engine, interior and bodywork in excellent condition.
Hiho is a stunning, unique, hand built camper van conversion, combining Scandi chic designer looks with all the latest technology and other creature comforts – for a cool, luxurious and adaptable camping experience.
Hiho is a VW Transporter Euro 6, Highline 6.1, featuring cruise control, speed sensitive power steering, air conditioning, Apple Airplay and other safety features like crosswind assist and hill assist, making it as easy, safe and convenient to drive as any modern car.
On the outside the silver metallic paintwork is complemented by smart alloy wheels, black gloss fascia grille, bling bars and a rear spoiler.
But it’s on the inside that the magic happens.
The handmade units and drawers use beautiful pale, birchwood pine, which contrast with and complement the midnight blue real leather seats, finished with white piping.
The Scandi retro look is enhanced with a faux sisal floor and cool fabrics from Finnish design house Marimekko. Fairy lights add a charming final touch at night, though there are also spotlights front and back should you need full illumination.
As well as a hob, sink and fridge/freezer, we’ve added all the necessary camping gadgetry for you to go ‘off grid’. The solar panels mean you can still have power for the fridge and charge phones and other devices (there are 14 usb charging points round the van, including two usb-c ports) even without needing the electric hookup.
There’s also a diesel heating system so you can be toasty warm inside the van even on very cold nights (without running the engine). And of course there’s air conditioning for hot climes.
As well as an alarm there’s a tracker. And we’ve upgraded the hifi with Focal speakers and a sub woofer, so the sound system is awesome, while retaining the excellent AirPlay functionality.
There are five seats. The bench seat at the front is able to swivel, so you can sit round the birch ply matching table, which can also be removed and used outside. Sleeping wise there are four berths. Upstairs in the pop top roof Hiho sleeps two, while below deck there’s a rock and roll double bed that’s super comfortable, long (6’3″), and easy to put up and dismantle. And unlike a lot of rock and roll beds this one affords proper space for a boot at the back, with a parcel shelf that can be easily raised and lowered (or removed) for ultimate flexibility.
There are hundreds of identikit conversions out there. None can match this one for unique style, while retaining all the practicality and performance of a modern VW Transporter 6.1
The rock and roll bed is 6β3β and sleeps two adults. Upholstered in midnight leather itβs a best of breed design that means itβs not only quick to erect/take down, but also gives you a proper boot at the back (including a parcel shelf that you can remove). The other accommodation is in the pop up roof. This bed also sleeps two adults.
