Negatives: Has some damp inside in over cab bed area. I think it is a leak, I have patched the area which has helped but will need to be resealed by new owner. This was discovered when we started to convert over cab bed into storage. I have stripped away water damaged panels but I do not have the time to repair and replace the over cab area. Someone who has the time to do this can easily repair this and either turn it into ample storage, or return it to its original double bed sleeping area. Alternator
Positives: His name is Errol. We have used him as our van life home for three months now. We love the adventures he has brought us, but we are switching to a stealth camper to better suit our lifestyle. There is only 65,500 miles on the clock. Good engine, runs smoothly when started. Bodywork good for age, some dents. Some rust underneath, as to be expected of a van this old, but far less than others we have seen and confirmed by several mechanics. 4 good winter tyres only lightly worn (fitted new by previous owner). Previous owner also changed all the engine belts this year. New front brakes fitted September, and new middle exhaust fitted September, new back box on the way to be fitted before MOT. New custom headlight adjusters fitted, and one new headlamp.
Inside Errol makes a lovely home or getaway base. His solar panels give us more than enough electricity that we have been able to live off grid without a hook up basically the entire time (even now into late autumn). He does have a hook up for campsites if you prefer. His diesel heater works great and quickly warms the van with dry heat, whilst being very efficient on fuel. The shower and cassette were professionally cleaned (along with the whole van) when we first bought it back in summer and haven’t been used by us since. Plenty of storage space in cupboards and under beds. As far as beds are concerned we currently have a double at the back, and the sofa area can turn into another double by using planks between the two seating benches.
We don’t currently have a dining table as we planned to have one we could take outside but our plans have changed. There is still the hole where the previous one was and it would be a 5min job to put one back in.
This is an older motorhome that has had many loving owners over the years. He needs some TLC but has plenty of life in him yet. My wife and I have spent lots of time (and money) cleaning and redecorating the interior, as well as chasing away the electrical gremlins that like to plague the engines of these classic van’s (the electricians did that). I am unable to climb into it to get photos of the roof, but I recently resealed the sky vents. This van will hold it’s value as it is a classic at this point, and any money spent on it will only improve that.
I am open to offers on the price as I am aware that work needs to be done for his MOT, as well as in the cab area. However once his MOT has passed and the cab gets fixed I will be less willing to negotiate. That said I am happy to go lower if there is someone who can take him and fix him up like he deserves now.
BEFORE CONTACTING:
I am only interested in talking to genuinely intersted buyers who don’t mind a small project. We have used the van as is with little issue since we bought him.
Small double to the rear and two bench sofas that fit together for another small double
