Vehicle Description

Regrettably selling this ultimate couples MTB camper van, as I’m moving full time to France.

2016 Mercedes Sprinter MWB. In very good condition for year – a few parking dings/minor scrapes on bumpers (not me! I was going to replace them but they’re minor) Absolutely mechanically sound. Also worth mentioning this was part of a major Mercedes recall for emissions, so had a revised 4 year warranty on lots of major engine parts after the recall, so probably has 2 years left – I will check exact details and update.

I bought the van as a basic panel van back in May 2022 and self converted it to a high standard using quality branded items.

I spent the summer in the van mountain biking in Morzine, then decided to head back for the winter – safe to say this is truly an all year round van, comfortable for temperatures of 30c to below -10c, and fully off grid! The solar provides more than enough juice to keep the lithium battery charged, and also charges off the alternator when the engine is running (50% to 100% takes 1 hour from the engine)

There’s plenty of storage with the overhead cabinets, cupboards under the bench, and drawers in the kitchen cabinet, along with a large shelf over the driver cab. Also the little stash bits I added while out here at the side of the bed for often-accessed items. Not to mention the garage!!
I’ve also added a flap up worktop extension, and a further pull out extension so there is plenty of space for working at a laptop, chilling, entertaining, and food prep.

With the spinning double seat there’s plenty of space for 5 people to relax…possibly 6.

The bed is a full size double on a new silent night memory foam mattress bought during the build. If you’ve got a child, the bench seat is 160cm long and made with high density foam so actually really comfortable!

I’m happy to field any questions in the mean time, and take more pictures. The whole build process has been heavily documented so I am happy to provide those pictures/videos as well. It’s not my first van build, and I’ve fully renovated houses so am no stranger to tools, electrics, DIY etc πŸ™‚

Here’s the spec:

Electrics:
170w Renogy solar panel
100ah Renogy Lithium Battery
Renogy 50A DC-DC split charger/solar
All fully bluetooth enabled to monitor battery/solar status from a phone app
5x β€˜cigarette lighter’ sockets – one either side of the head of the bed, one near sink/worktop, one above bench seat, and one above the bed (I had a projector). These are just cigarette lighter sockets as this allows you to buy quality USB adapters to suit your needs – whether normal USB or USB-C, with one two or four ports.
6x ceiling spot lights, with 2 remotes so you can turn on/off from bed or wherever.
Every accessory is fused and/or switched.
12v JKF50 fridge

Water:
Shurflo water pump (switched next to sink)
Fiamma expansion chamber (keeps consistent pressure)
All removable jerry cans, so you can fill up from anywhere, rather than undercounted tanks you need to find and pay for a service point.
1x25l 2x10l and a 10l grey waste tank, which is piped through the floor with a tap, for easy emptying at floor grates for waste emptying, rather than having to remove and pour…just park above and open the tap.

Gas:
Standard 13kg butane gas bottle, in a sealed chamber, vented.
House style 2 burner gas hob, under mounted with custom cover
Camplux shower, mounted in the garage by the rear door – outside showers only! In the winter I went to the local swimming pool πŸ™‚

Heating/Cooling:
Maxxair roof vent – the rolls Royce of ventilation. Remote controlled, has an auto setting to open when it hits a certain temperature to automatically cool the van
Chinese diesel heater – It was only supposed to be a summer van so I didn’t buy a Webasto, but this thing has never let me down throughout a harsh winter and heats up extremely quickly! Comes with 2 remotes and a fixed control panel.

Insulation:
Floor: Fully insulated with XPS foam board then ply on top. One piece Lino throughout the entire van.
Walls: Fully insulated with 50mm kingspan board, expanding foam, and recycled bottle wool in spaces.
Ceiling 25mm kingspan with expanding foam and recycled bottle wool in spaces.
100% vapour barrier over the top.
One of the areas I paid most attention to to ensure this is an all season van!

Garage:
This is where most of the water and electric components are. Has an LED strip light all around for easy visibility.
The entire of the garage is on a pull out tray, and has bike mounts inside – I had 3 bikes and still plenty of space for storage. The pull out tray makes it super easy to access things.

External:
Rear ladder for access to clean the solar panel/access to sun deck
4x Yokohama tyres which have done a maximum of 5000 miles (they last over 25k)

Extras:
Full set of thermal/reflective internal window blinds for windscreen/
TruTrak GPS Tracker – requires a 5 pound a month subscription for real time monitoring.
Stoplock Pro Elite steering wheel lock.
Rear barn door deadlock fitted for extra peace of mind. 2 keys.
Rear reversing camera with screen in front, for easy parking.
2x Fiamma levelling chocks including carry bag.
I upgraded the speakers to a set of Focal component speakers, as I’m a bit of an audio nerd – they really sound great as opposed to stock speakers. The stereo is stock, but is fully bluetooth enabled so works really well with navigation audio/spotify πŸ™‚
FireAngel carbon monoxide detector.
300w portable inverter with single 240v outlet – I had this for the rare occasion I needed to power/charge 240v appliances. It’s a cigarette lighter socket with 1 power outlet so you can plug in any of the 5 sockets inside the van (plus one in the garage). Everything I own is 12v chargeable so I really didn’t want/need 240v in the van as it’s so inefficient.

Mileage – on 96000 but this will probably go to 97000 by time I get back to the UK.

2 previous owners, one was a company, and the other a carpenter so fairly light use. As is common with vans, companies don’t provide service history which is a shame – there are receipts from the previous owner, and as soon as I bought the van I took it to a garage to have the works for further peace of mind. Oil, filters, brake fluid, and even genuine Mercedes gear box and diff oil. The van engine battery is also only 2 years old.

MOT is due 15th November 2023.
