The Vangear Space concept

Vangear is a long established campervan company. We are a manufacturer of campervan pods and retail online. Our camper pods use unique and original designs and therefore the Vangear campervan conversion necessitated thinking outside the box too. In a move away from the traditional down the side of the van furniture used for years in campervans, but taking some inspiration from the original Volkswagen California Beach we have thought long and hard about which set up we would use. We will try to use the next few pages to explain the Vangear “Space” concept in five base points.

Space concept #1 Space & Air & Heating

The main reason to move away from the traditional down the side of the van furniture set up is the available space. By going for a low level blanket box combined with a RIB rock & roll bed we have formed a full width bed.
An important aspect is ventilation, light and movement of air. Vangear has fitted opening windows. There are front door vents too.
A light and airy feeling is created by fitted windows, keeping in touch with a 360’ landscape view, but the most important feature is the auxiliary heater you will never be cold again!

Space Concept #2 Sociable Space & easy set up

By combining a twin swivelling passenger seat with the RIB seat and the side mounted blanket box we have created a “U” spaced living area. The twin swivelling seat uses levers not bolts so the process of rotating the seat is easier. Pull both levers, rotate the seat and you have a wide rear facing seat with a convenient table at hand clipped on to the 50l FRIDGE-POD. The blanket box has a pair of cushions for seating and also at night time to make up the spacious bed. The RIB rock & roll bed is NCAP certificated with integral seat belts and Isofix, adjustable headrests and a tilting rear leaf. Again the easy operation of the bed and seat make transforming your campervan into night time mode simple and fast.

Space Concept #3 Storage

An important aspect is storage, you need room to put stuff! We have spent time with our design to maximize available storage areas.
The side blanket box has a large storage area under the cushions at the rear and at the front. Access is via hinged doors under the cushions leading to a surprisingly large area.
Under the RIB seat is a large area ideal for bedding. The front leaf of the bed tilts up and you have ample room to fit your sleeping bag etc
Under the twin passenger seat which tilts up to expose the under seat area.
The 50L FRIDGE-POD has a fridge for food and a cupboard area.

Vangear Space concept #4 Cooking

Cooking is of course part of the camping experience! There is a 50 litre fridge run from the leisure battery which is automatically charged every time you drive. The double hob and sink is the Dometic 9772 with water bottles (10 litre fresh + 10L waste) integrated into the kitchen pod.

Vangear Space concept #5 Vehicle Selection

For such a conversion we picked the Volkswagen T6 Transporter. We wanted a platform that you can be proud of. The T6 is a durable and low depreciation platform that in our view offers significant advantages over other platforms.
