VW Caddy Maxi - Hi Spec - weekend campervan

This Caddy Maxi Life has been fully insulated throughout and converted to a high spec. It has privacy glass (dark) all round and curtains that fully enclose the sleeping area to allow for stealth camping. The convertible options mean that it can be used as an empty long wheelbase van, people carrier with double rear seat, belts and Isofix, or to sleep overnight. Drop the seat, and a full width and length double bed, can be made up. There are even roof bars if you want to add a roof rack.

The bespoke bed is a sprung mattress and very comfortable. It comes in three pieces. Two zip-together and the small one is ‘free’. All enclosed in a mattress cover. The vehicle has been ‘pet free’ and barely used due to COVID restrictions. It has a single hob, fuelled by its own gas source. The hob is protected with a stainless-steel splash back with a drop-down lid. The lid can be lifted for a cup of tea in bed or when sitting inside the tailgate for a ‘pit stop’. A Propex gas heater is thermostatically controlled and runs from a on a separate gas supply. This keeps you cosy, even on winter nights. The gas system is fully enclosed and draws air from outside. All safety requirements have been considered. There is a carbon monoxide alarm and fire extinguisher.

There is plenty of ventilation. The car has VW air conditioning. In addition, two overhead fans that draw air in or expel air. Each has a rain guard. Both windows in the cab have wind deflectors, so can be left open at night. There is a 12V socket to plug a portable fridge in at the rear, with a separate courtesy light. Another 12V socket beneath the bed, useful for an Ipad and mobile phones. These all run from the leisure battery. There are 6 dimmer light spots, that operate with a finger tap. These work separately to the interior lights. The leisure battery is charged when driving, but there is also a hook up lead and consumer unit. There are two additional 240V sockets, when using hook up on a campsite. Your car battery is protected from running down by a split relay charger. There are buttons in the driver’s door to allow movement in the car without the car alarm going off and another which means the doors can only be opened from inside. You can sleep safely if wild camping. There is a lever on the tailgate so you can lift it from the inside. There is a CD player and radio for lazy summer days. This will play and switch off automatically when you doze off!
