Selling my beloved Volkswagen Transporter T4 2.4D

This versatile vehicle has been an integral part of my life for the past 15 years, offering incredible reliability and practicality. Despite having 183,000 miles on the clock, the van had its engine block reconditioned at 122,000 miles, which means it’s just getting started for these robust engines!
The van has been a faithful family campervan as well as a dependable work van, thanks to its DIY camper conversion. The interior is lined and insulated, featuring a 3/4 width rock n roll bed, kitchen units with a Smev hob and sink, Van-X black-out curtains all round, and a swivel passenger seat. To add to the convenience, it has 12V LED lighting, a water pump, and multiple charging points. You’ll also find a 230V hook-up lead and sockets inside, with the leisure battery charging through a split system while driving or via a dash-mounted solar panel when stationary.
It currently has a subwoofer and speakers fitted, which can either be removed or kept with sale.
Included in the sale is a 40L compressor cool box, which is impressively efficient, along with a gas bottle and 20L water/waste bottles. The tent box classic fitted to the roof bars houses a full-size double bed with a memory foam topper and storage space. We’ve found this setup more convenient than a pop-top, as it pops up on hydraulics- immediately ready to use on site, providing an extra private bedroom. The van’s 3/4 width bed can accommodate another two people. Please see the attached pictures for the setup.
The van is nearly 30 years old and the paintwork is certainly not perfect and the conversion is fairly DIY. However it is versatile for both everyday use and trips away. Over the years, I’ve had a lot of work done on it, including many recent new parts such as:
– Cam belt and water pump replaced in 2023 at 173,000 miles
– New leisure and starter battery
– New steering rack in 2024
– New top and bottom ball joints
– New driveshafts
– New gear selector linkage
– Reconditioned fuel pump
– New sills and inner arches all round
– Reconditioned engine block at 122,000 miles
– Regular servicing every 6,000 miles
