VW T4 Hightop Campervan

1993 Reimo hightop campervan.
MOT till July 2025

Based on the Caravelle model it has the 5 cylinder 2.5 petrol engine which was probably one of the best sounding engines Audi ever made. What is loses in fuel economy you gain in smiles per gallon.
Summary:
This has been refurbished over the last five years and has had all welding done, a full respray and an internal refit to bring it more in line with modern camping.
Respray in blue with black roof. All door shuts and under bonnet areas have been done.
Welding has been carried out including new rear panels, new cills and repairs to front steps and inner arches. The approach was if it was needed do it and if it looks as if it might need it soon, do it. The underside has benefitted from a Lanoguard treatment.
It has new smoked rear lights, new smoked front indicators and new front fog lights (all working).

Mechanically it has had a full service including new plugs, leads, rotor arm and distributor cap. It has also had new front discs and pads and new rear drums and shoes. A new cat has been fitted to the exhaust. New load rated Romac wheels are fitted with new load rated tyres.

Inside, the furniture was taken apart and painted with a specialist paint to turn the old speckled blue into a far more modern stone colour. All trims have been painted black. All handles have been taken apart, cleaned, repaired where necessary (or replaced) and painted black.
It has a new AGM leisure battery with Durite split charge and a basic Sargent control panel.
A new compressor fridge resides behind the original cupboard door replacing the worn out 3 way fridge. It is wired via a fuse and switch directly to the leisure battery.
The original Reimo hob and sink are under the cabinet top which lifts up to allow access but can be left down for a less cluttered look.
Lighting comes from LED strip lights in black aluminium profile to give a uniform light over the whole of the rear living area.
The original Reimo variotech seating slides on the original rails and a new vinyl floor has been laid.
Up front, the captains chairs are fitted with Seatskinz covers and the dash and door cards have been restored using a specialist cleaner and colourant.

A huge amount of work has gone into making this van what it is and parts alone are well in excess of the asking price. It has been dried stored for the last three years while the work was carried out so it has only accumulated dust rather than the usual rot that goes with inactive vans.

The MOT is short but the van has literally only been to the MOT station and back since July 24 when the MOT was carried out. The tester is used to having T4 through his door and said this was about the best he had seen in a very long time and could see a considerable amount of work had been done to get it to it’s current condition. It did have a few advisories but all relatively simple jobs.
A new MOT can be negotiated.
