Est 2010, House-Box (if you’ve not already guessed) is a play on the word horse-box. A comprehensive restoration and conversion of a dilapidated old horse-box was the first project we undertook for ourselves and the name just stuck. We took such huge pleasure in designing and creating our own handmade, comfortable, and beautiful space in which to live full time economically, and ecologically that it was clear to us that we’d like to turn this passion into a full time endeavour and the rest is history.
Our main areas of work include converting mobile and static ‘off-grid’ spaces into bespoke, warm, and technologically equipped handmade homes. As well as converting existing structures (busses, boats, dens etc.) we also build structures bespoke, whether mobile or static (tree-houses, stacked shipping containers, coachbuilding etc.)
We are often approached to help other self-builders with their own projects in a more specialist capacity. Whether it’s installing a solar system onto a converted removals lorry, or a wood-burning stove and 5:1 surround sound system into a shipping container!
There is not much you can say to add to sheer gloriousness of House-Box’s creations, just have a look at the photos below. Dean and the team love to innovate and push the boundaries of the materials they work with. The time and creativity that goes into every conversion ensures each one is a masterpiece. Conversions slots at House-Box are highly sought after with lead times to match. Price wise the banding on this directory doesn’t really apply as they are in whole other league simply because of the scale and ambition of the projects they take on.
