Lakeland Van Conversions is run by myself, Alan Hawkins and my partner, Janice Murray. We are situated on the west coast of Cumbria, just outside the Lake District National Park. I’m a City & Guilds Advanced Craft Carpenter & Joiner with 35 years experience in all aspects of Carpentry & Joinery. For many years I worked as a quantity surveyor but in 2015, after converting my own campervan, I decided to give up the 9 to 5 and follow my passion as a master joiner. I also have a HNC in Building Studies. Janice is an artist with a passion for textiles. She learned her craft from her stream stress grandmother and has been sewing all her life. We have built up a local reputation, mainly through word of mouth and our conversions have been met with high acclaim from many happy customers.
“I would recommend Alan and Janice for bespoke conversions. Good communication and collaboration throughout the process. Great ideas and finished within the timescale set. Thank you” Natalie Burns
All my conversions are hand built joinery. I don’t use pre manufactured units and I don’t use particle boards or high gloss laminates in any of my builds. In my experience they can look good initially, but have no longevity in use. All heating, gas, electrical and plumbing materials used are from trusted suppliers and of a top specification. We work with our customers to create the perfect bespoke built and have many years experience to guide you though the process making sure we create the perfect van that works for your needs. On average one of our conversions will take around 12 weeks.
