So what makes them so special? Let’s dive in…

“Being creatives and foodies we were on the search for a bespoke house bus that catered to our older-self needs and our English bull terrier, RosyG. Hence the name of our cute bus, RosyG. You don’t get the 4-legged furry companion but you do get to experience our amazing country… slowly!.”Lee & Caroline, RosyG’s owners

Based near central Auckland, RosyG is your launchpad for North Island wonders – and yes, she’s pet-friendly too. 🐾

Introducing Milford: A rustic cottage on wheels

New to the Quirky Campers NZ line-up, Milford feels less like a van and more like curling up in someone’s lovingly restored bach (that’s Kiwi for holiday home). With reclaimed timber touches, handcrafted details, and warm lighting, it’s the camper equivalent of a good book and a glass of red.

Don’t let the “rustic” fool you – Milford is fully equipped for the long haul.

Why Milford’s a winner:

  • ✅ HUGE 2.01m x 1.85m bed (perfect for tall travellers or cuddly nights)
  • ✅ Fixed toilet plus an outdoor shower for freedom camping ease
  • ✅ Generous kitchen space with fridge and gas stove top
  • ✅ Reclaimed wooden table and plush seating for cosy nights in
  • ✅ Ceiling fan plus diesel heater for all-season comfort
  • ✅ TV projector for those cosy nights in watching movies

“Milford’s theme is cosy cottage on wheels. Rustic charm over modern minimalism… full of character and built for the kind of travel where you don’t always know what the day will bring – and that’s exactly the point.” – James & Lottie, Milford’s owners

Milford’s home is Mairangi Bay on Auckland’s North Shore – a brilliant jumping off point for journeys north or south.

FAQs – All the things you were wondering…

Are these camperbuses hard to drive?

Not at all! Both RosyG and Milford are surprisingly easy to handle, with reversing cameras, comfortable cab seating, and smooth diesel engines. If you’re comfortable behind the wheel of a larger SUV, you’ll adapt quickly. RosyG is a manual transmission, and Milford offers an automatic transmission.

Can I freedom camp in these vans?

Yes! Both Milford and RosyG are certified self-contained and fully compliant with NZ’s latest laws for freedom camping. You’ve got the water storage, the fixed toilets, and the peace of mind to go off-grid. Of course, we do recommend you check the local bylaws in NZ, and keep an eye on signage, as freedom camping is restricted in some areas.

What about power and charging?

Solar panels and inverters keep things humming. RosyG and Milford can both charge your small devices like phones and laptops while you’re off the beaten path – just bring your cables and a sense of adventure.

Is there room for surfboards or bikes?

Absolutely. RosyG has ample garage space for a surfboard, and Milford includes a bike rack. These camperbuses are ready for your gear – from boards and boots to wine and waffles.

Are they hard to park?

Not at all. Both camperbuses come with power steering and reversing cameras. Take it slowly, and you’ll be fine!
