Why sell with Quirky Campers

Not only do we have serious buyers and the most detailed campervan and motorhome specific information, but we are also the cheapest dedicated marketplace to sell with.

Any campervan or motorhome can be listed on our website

Our sales page is like a classifieds page in that you can list any campervan or motorhome. We’ve had listings from basic conversions to high-spec modern homes on wheels. Plus you manage the listing and enquiries. Do you have a unique caravan or trailer tent instead? You can list that too!

Get your listing verified

While any leisure vehicle can be listed on our sales page, only certain campervans will tick all the Quirky boxes. We’ll review your listing, and if you’ve got the right sign-offs and cracking photos, we’ll tick whether ‘We love the style‘, and verify your campervan as ‘Pre-approved for hire’.

What you’ll need to get your listing up

It’ll take you around 10-15 minutes to get your listing up. You’ll need the following information for your listing:

  • Photos (10 for a standard listing)
  • Basic vehicle information (year, odometer reading, transmission type, number of belted seats etc.)
  • Price
  • Information about the conversion (berths and bed descriptions, solar panels, cooking facilities etc.)
  • Information about sign-offs and certificates (you don’t have to have these done but you need to state if you’ve had them done – e.g. gas safety certificate, self-containment certificate etc.)

Make your campervan more saleable (for greater returns $)

Photos, Photos, Photos!

Photos make all the difference in the number (and quality) of enquiries you’ll get. They’re the most effective way to get across just how special your campervan is – after all, a picture says a thousand words! Plus, the campervans with the best photos are more likely to be promoted to our social media and email audiences.

Our tips for taking photos that sell:

  • Clean your van! It sounds obvious but clean every single spot of your van (inside and out). You don’t want a bit of dust or an out-of-place shoe to distract from your van’s features.
  • Use the best quality camera you’ve got access to. If you don’t have a great smartphone, do you have a friend with a DSLR or a better smartphone you can borrow?
  • Only take your photos during the day. Clear, crisp and well-lit photos make all the difference. Stick to 2 hours or so after sunrise and at least 2 hours before sunset to make sure you have great light.
  • Make them wide-angle. You’ll have some great little details in your van that you’ll want close-up shots of but for the most part, your photos should be quite zoomed out. Buyers want to understand the layout of the van as it’s arguably one of the most important aspects of a small space. If you’re using a DSLR, then you’ll want to use a 20mm (or less) lens. If you’re using a smartphone or a camera with a fixed lens, stand far back from the shot – even outside the van.
  • Don’t over-edit. There’s no need to add filters, vignettes, effects etc. The buyer is looking for an accurate representation of the van.

Get the right sign-offs

When someone is considering spending many thousands of dollars on an investment like this, they need reassurance that it is safe and legal. A current Warrant of Fitness and up to date rego are cheap and easy ways to do that.

Fill out all the information

Don’t skip any boxes! We’ve bought and sold campervans ourselves, and have talked to dozens of buyers and sellers to find out what information everyone wants to be included. If a question is on the form, it’s there for a reason! Provide as much information as you can to make the buyer’s job easier.

QUICK ANSWERS FOR SELLING A CAMPERVAN

FAQs

What type of vehicle can I sell?

You can sell any campervan or motorhome with Quirky Campers. We don’t have strict restrictions on the types of vehicles that can be listed, so if you think our buyers are the right audience for your vehicle, you’re welcome to list it with us. If you’re unsure whether your vehicle is a good fit, email nzmarketplace@quirkycampers.com and we’ll be happy to help.

Is the Quirky Campers website the best place to sell my campervan or motorhome?

We sure think so, but we know every seller’s situation is different. It’s worth considering audience, listing costs, visibility and how well the platform suits the type of vehicle you’re selling. Our buyers come looking specifically for handcrafted and characterful campers, so if that describes your van, you’re in the right place.

How much does it cost to list a campervan for sale?

A standard sales listing starts from $19 NZD and includes 10 photos, with your campervan listing live for 8 weeks. While we launch the marketplace, you can create a standard listing for free using the code FREELISTING at checkout. You can also create a premium listing, with up to 24 photos for $29.

How do I sell my campervan with Quirky Campers?

You can list your campervan online through our Sell My Campervan page. You’ll just need to provide a few details about your vehicle, upload photos and then choose your listing type, either standard or premium. Once you’re happy, simply check out and your listing will be live. If you need a hand at any point, email nzmarketplace@quirkycampers.com.

How long will my campervan listing stay live?

Your campervan listing will stay live for eight weeks from the date it is published for a standard listing, or 12 weeks for a premium listing. During this time, buyers can view the listing and contact you directly with questions or to arrange a viewing. You can manage and update your listing by logging into your Quirky Campers account.

I’m a trade seller, can I get a multi-listing discount?

Yes, trade seller packages are available. If you’re a trade seller and would like to list multiple campervans, get in touch at nzmarketplace@quirkycampers.com and we’ll find the best option for you.

I have a campervan conversion. Does it need to be certified self-contained before selling?

No, your vehicle does not need to be certified self-contained to list it for sale on our platform. That said, a current self-containment certificate is a genuine selling point, because it is what allows the new owner to freedom camp legally. When creating your listing, please select the relevant fields to state its condition and status clearly. This helps buyers understand exactly what they’re looking at before they enquire.
