Own a Quirky Camper!

This gorgeous handcrafted campervan could be all yours (NOW SOLD)

One of our wonderful owners is selling their campervan. It doesn’t happen very often so don’t miss your chance to own your own Quirky Camper! Mahara is a stunning log cabin on wheels which is understandably a popular rental van too!

Mahara is currently based in Queenstown and is up for sale as her owners are relocating. She’s available to view until Sunday 7 March 2021 can be transferred to her new owners any time after 23 March 2021.

Mahara is yours for $24k NZD or nearest offer so let’s talk details…

All about the vehicle

Mahara is a 2005 Volkswagen LT35 (mid roof) – 2.5L turbo diesel, manual drive – with about 390k kilometres on the clock. The cambelt was replaced about 30k kilometres ago and the minor maintenance/recommendations from the most recent COF* have been attended to. * A COF is required if you plan to rent the van out; if it’s for personal use only, a WOF is sufficient.

The bodywork and cab have some blemishes representative of her age, but in our opinion Mahara still looks and performs great. The roof rack is included and she also has a tow bar. Mahara has central locking and comes with two (new) keys. Up front in the cab there are two seats with access to the main living area.

The living space

The clever layout makes the van feel bigger

The main cabin area has a lovely simple, open layout which means that even with a fixed bed, the kitchen/dining/living area feels spacious.

The interior height is 1.63m and in terms of kitchen, Mahara has a portable 2 burner LPG gas stove, space for a chilly bin and an in-built sink. There’s plenty of drawer space and she’ll also come with a full set of kitchen equipment. There’s a space saving fold-down table for dining or working.

A comfy bed for two

Mahara has a queen-size width bed measuring 150cm x 170cm across the rear of the camper – so a little shorter than a standard bed. There are also storage areas overhead and under the bed.

The fabulous logburner!

Mahara has a beautiful Mini Meg logburner from Roaring Meg Fires which is purpose-built for small spaces and makes campervanning a joy all year round.

The power system

Mahara has a leisure battery set-up with multiple USB charging ports, lights, and a 230v inverter for any small appliances such as laptops or battery chargers.

Is it self-contained?

The van is certified self-contained (CSC) for two people and has 25L fresh and waste water containers. The kitchen sink has a hand pump tap. The portable toilet (included) is stored under the bed.

Recoup your costs by renting out your campervan with Quirky Campers

We’d love to keep Mahara as part of the Quirky Campers NZ family – continuing to attract caring, responsible customers who want to hire her out. It would mean you could be recouping your costs when you’re not using the campervan yourself and potentially break even in less than 2 years… all while you have your very own bach on wheels!

And it’s virtually no effort to do! Check out the campervan rental listing on our website… it would just be a case of updating her new home location! And reading up about renting out your campervan.
